I'm finding vets are like salesmen in lab coats. Kanra's (my kitten) vet told me she had fleas despite the fact that I am allergic to them, she is short haired and swims in the bath water with my GF and forced me to buy a month of flea meds almost tried to sell me 3 months after I said no. After her second visit for the deworming I haven't been back to him nor will I return

I don't trust many vets anyway. She was given Baytril for an Upper Respiratory Infection (That's reoccurring every winter and thought about Reptaid XL). I'm going to try and see if this helps her immune system. She's real picky eater. She barely touches red bell peppers. Hates them. But recently, she's been eating them like crazy. Apart from the picky eater, every year, she gets sick. I contributed it to the changes in weather and all. She fought an infection off once, then the second time around, she was really sick. Sneezing, wheezing, coughing. I diagnosed her as having an URI before the vet. I recognized the symptoms. She was on Baytril for about two weeks and four days. 14 days. She was cured of it and bounced back. Then shortly later, she had a fall off the chair. She bounced back after that. No problems. Then she fell onto her back later on, and didn't bounce back. She had a sore back, wasn't eating, and then got mouth rot. I managed to treat her for that. The plaques were coming out one by one. She still has a plaque, but it's not spreading or anything. It's just dead tissue. I can't remove it without making her bleed. The girl doesn't need to bleed. She chomped on it several times, making it bleed. Ouch I know.

Then a yellow spot started to form. I thought: Maybe it's dirt or something. I tried to scrub it off with some warm water and a tooth brush. No such luck. It didn't come off. I started researching what it could be. I found dragons with yellow spots and it was yellow fungus disease. It's deadly and high contagious to other dragons and reptiles. It's hard to get rid of and I might have to replace all of her decorations or soak them in bleach, then air them out in the sun. I've been battling this fungus from April 11th to present.

It's also spreading, but not all over her body. I cleaned her body with Betadine solution- didn't soak her this morning too cold. So I dabbed it. A clear white piece of skin shed off today after dabbing. I'm guessing that's a good thing! I hope.

Me too. I haven't ever had anything like this so I don't know. The skin appears to be, um, pearly white? I think...it's still sensitive to the touch and it may be the Miconozale and Betadine exposing the infection?

I bought Reptaid when we first brought Luci home. I noticed he had a lot of mucus in his mouth and I was worried it was a URI. After just a few doses it cleared up. It sounds like Allie might be starting to shed, which could be a good thing. It will take off some of that yucky stuff and you can see how bad things are. Like the vet told me on Saturday, things won't start to look better until they shed.

Try living in Chicago! My older cat Isis is 14 and she went in for a senior exam, extractions and a biopsy for a big lesion she had in her mouth, it was about $800! I do have to say that this vet I found doesn't push unnecessary procedures or products. Isis has a sarcoma that developed in the site that they gave her her vaccinations when she was a kitten. The vet wanted to biopsy it and we said no. She's 14 and she's doing okay health wise so we didn't want to open up a can of worms on her if she only has a few more years with us anyway. They were fine with our decision and didn't push it.

Another vet story, YEARS ago I had a cat that got kidney disease and I had to put her down. I didn't have all money for the procedure and having her cremated so I begged them and they let me pay half and then I could pay the other half when I picked up her ashes. Well 3 weeks later and I never heard from them so I called. They NEVER SENT HER BODY TO THE CREMATORIUM!!!!! They told me they still had her body in the freezer because they were waiting for me to pay the rest of my bill! This same vet chastised me for having a "fat" cat. I never went back to them!

I hope so. I was reading a bearded dragon with crusts all over her skin and bad yellow fungus disease from extended antibiotic use and anti-fungal treatments from the vet. I felt so bad and thought: When I give Allie the Reptaid, I hope she'll eat on her own and start feeling better.

Today: Allie decided she didn't want to eat her greens or her Phoenix Worms. She had one piece and a worm. That was it. She might not have been hungry yet. I'm not sure. And today, the Reptaid XL is coming from Dalton, GA, which is close to me. I hope it comes before 8 PM. tonight! I'm hoping to start it today. Oh and guess what? Allie has claimed two of my new soft towels for herself for night time use on her bed. I have to make them extra cushy or she won't sleep on them. She woke up twice last night, trying to get to me. I hope the Reptaid will help her. I pray it does. Meanwhile, I'm looking for another vet. I may use the one my brother uses for his cats and rabbits.

Night One: Administered Reptaid XL Tonight. She let me give her 0.05 ml of the dose with some extra water. I gave her a quite a lot of water to drink with it.

1 She ate: Some, but not all greens with help. She stares at them. Parsley, Mustard, Turnip, and Collard Green Trio mix with calcium powder.

2: I just noticed something! Whenever Allie sleeps, her legs move around, clutching things. It makes me think she's dreaming of her basking spot and is running around and climbing on them. She climbs out of bed and goes to the glass, trying to glass dance.

3: Second Dose today. :( She ingested glass from a glass dropper. I'm beating myself up over it mentally and I even called myself an idiot, because I am.

She pooped big this morning after giving her prunes and water. BIG POOP after administering prunes in the AM.

Ok...I hope it was enough to kill that fungus among us on her basking logs, bridges, plants...I poured hot steaming water and a cup full of vinegar into a container with her logs and so forth. They're airing out in the house because there's a rain storm happening now.

Hopefully the piece of glass wasn't too big and she pooped it out with everything else this morning. To further sanitize the wood once it dries completely you can bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. It has to dry completely before you bake it or it will split.

I sanitized tank stuff last night too with vinegar and water. Luci's tank is a wreck. I have paper towel down on the side he poops and then repticarpet on the other side where his salad goes. The problem with the paper towel side is he is so wild that he runs and rips the towel up as soon as I put it down. Even if I tape it down, he rips it up. So I put some more repti carpet down on his poop side but made poop pads so the carpet doesn't get ruined. We'll see how that works LOL!

They're air drying in the house. They're all clean and smelling like clean wood. The big basker is taking a long time to dry. Everything else is almost dry.

Ok. Allie drank water in her bath with the treatment in. Will it be an overdose if I were to give her the 0.05 ml dose and 0.10 ml of water too. There were 5 drops according to the instructions from the reptaid site for treating Fungus.

lol. Crazy boy. :D

You think that's bad. Look at the photo under the April contest. Allie's applesauce was all over the tank and even on the glass. Lol

The Reptaid is all natural, I don't think it would hurt to give her a dose since it was diluted in her bath water.

Ok. She had a lot of fun in the water. She swims around in it with her head beneath the surface. It's about my knuckle length on my finger with the water. She loves to swim around and tries to splash Mommy. (If they were truly sick, they'd not move, right?) She sure loves to dunk under the water and swim. Her nostrils close when she does this. She amazes me.

I would think if she was really sick she wouldn't swim and play like that. I would think she'd be more lethargic.

I thought she was ready for bed and she's not. The reptaid has a pleasant smell. She actually licked the stuff of her snout.

She also climbed out of her bed and then ran around the tank. :p She's feeling good whenever she takes it.
