My daughter got a Breaded Dragon for her birthday this year. Got one of those "everything you need terrarium kits." Came with 3 lights, a basking light, a red light and a 3rd light that gives off no heat, just light. Was told the basking light was for daytime and the red light was for night. Read on here, and other places, that the red light was bad for them. (We've been using it for a couple of months.) My question is, what is the proper way to set up the tank at night?

Please get rid of the red light -- they are harmful to the eyes and disrupt the dragons sleep they need cool and dark NO lights on at nite - if your tank is falling below 65 at nite get a CHE a ceramic heat emitter --- temps at nite should be 65-75 ambient --- now if your using a coil UVB please get rid of that too -- they are inadequate for UVB they are harmful as well --- you should be using 2 digital probe thermometers for basking temps you want surface temps 105-110 for a baby 95-100 for a juvenile approx 5-6 months old https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...rometers/products/zoo-med-digital-thermometer
you want a long tube fixture for a 40+ gallon tank like this 24" fixture https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/light-fixtures/products/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-hood this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb keep it for a back up but the distance and placement is different from the bulb you need 22" https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/t5-lighting/products/zoo-med-reptisun-10-0-uvb-t5
or this one 24" https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/t5-lighting/products/arcadia-prot5-12-uvb-bulb-with-hood
please get this fixed your dragon will quit eating w/ out the proper basking temps and UVB --- if you need help please ask I will help you

No coil lights, day temps are consistently mid/high-nineties. Have a hood light, humidity good as well. Will get rid of the red light immediately and pick up a ceramic heat emitter just in case. THANKS!

Ok that is a coil - you need a long tube fixture-- I will get links posted in the morning- it's not adequate for the tank plus it's a coil-
My bad….when you said coil, I thought you meant for the basking light. Thanks again.

24" Zoo Med this will come w/ a 5.0 bulb hang on to it for a back up the distance and placement is different from the one you need 22" https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/t5-lighting/products/zoo-med-reptisun-10-0-uvb-t5 or this one 24" https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/t5-lighting/products/arcadia-prot5-12-uvb-bulb-with-hood
when you get this please post back on here I will help you get it set up for your tank
you need two of these one for the cool side of the tank one for the basking side place the probe on the spot where he basks for 10 min or so get the temp 95-100 for a juvie / adult dragon nite time temps should be 65-75 cool and dark -- please get a digital probe hygrometer place the probe on the back center wall it will read the whole tank optimal humidity is 30-40% nothing under 20 nothing over 70% https://dubiaroaches.com/products/exo-terra-digital-hygrometer?_pos=1&_sid=ac857912b&_ss=r
Please get the UVB ASAP the dragon at this point is getting NO UVB -- along w/ the probe thermometers this is EXTREMELY important

Will try to pick this stuff up today. Also, night time temp last night was around 75 with a 65 watt ceramic heater on. Should I turn it off tonight? The humidity was around 50. What can I do to lower that a bit?
50% humidity is fine - I wouldn't go any warmer at nite 75 is good- let me know when you get the uvb etc I will help you get it placed etc

Will this work? The link you sent me said 39 watts, and I may have screwed up and got the 24 watt bulb.
Yes that will work -- it will go into a larger tank as well -- a 4x2x2 tank or 120 gallon -- do you have the fixture now? I will help you set it up --- show me your screen on your tank please
