No waste of money-- I can post links for tanks for you -- you can always invest in a adult size tank like a 4x2x2 and partition it off into 1/2 or 1/3rds till hes around 4 months old --- its best to get what you need now and not by all the extra BS your not going to use -- you will save money in the long run - that compact UVB in that "kit" will kill your dragon -- they cause so many health issues I wish they would outlaw them --would this be worth looking into for him? Wont use the sand of course but as far as lighting maybe this is more cost effective?
Thank you! I found someone on FB marketplace thats selling a lot of stuff and the light fixtures you recommended are part of it! Will need to get new lights but it looks like a good deal to get started! Getting it tomorrow. Ill post the lights and stuff when I pick them up tomorrow. Ill need to get a new bulb to be sure its the one you recommended. As far as substrate, I also read that tile was good for heat? Or is the shelf liner the best thing for a baby? Again sorry about all the questions I just want to make sure I have a good set up for him so he thrives! No waste of money-- I can post links for tanks for you -- you can always invest in a adult size tank like a 4x2x2 and partition it off into 1/2 or 1/3rds till hes around 4 months old --- its best to get what you need now and not by all the extra BS your not going to use -- you will save money in the long run - that compact UVB in that "kit" will kill your dragon -- they cause so many health issues I wish they would outlaw them --

What size is the uvb fixture? 24" 20"? Tile does not absorb heat- slate does and it gets too hot I don't recommend slate- tile is hard on the joints- I have 2 pieces of tile in my tank to keep the nails down and use a black mat from zen habitats that has cushion- please post the lights when you get themThank you! I see stuff there your not going to use -- I would replace the light fixtures w/ domes - do not use the Nano light- and it looks like dog food ? - 3 glass bottles you wont use - the food dishes are good the UVB fixture looks iffy --24 inch uvb fixture! What do you mean about the lights? Thats the main thing I was going to use, the rest I know wouldnt. You need a dome for basking light it directs the heat downwardWhat do you mean about the lights? Thats the main thing I was going to use, the rest I know wouldnt. Are they not the right ones?
Oh okay that makes sense. Yeah might pass then since lighting is probably the most important thing to get for my little friend. You need a dome for basking light it directs the heat downward

you need up to 160 watt -- the UVB fixture is iffy - have you turned it on to see if it works? Those long black fixtures I dont know what they are or how they would be used-- posting a pic of my tank
How big is the tank and what was in it before? Any used tanks need to be disinfected w/ F10 its a vet disinfectant and will kill anything in that tank here is a link its good to have this on hand anywayOh okay that makes sense. What is the temp and the one you have now is a stick on or does it have probes on it? The screen on the tank is a fine mesh or wide hole? If it's fine mesh you need to get it unobstructed and distance 12-15 inches- you can place the uvb width wise at the end of the tank butt the screen up to it place the basking light next to it- how long before you get the thermometer? Blaze is 5 and hiccup turns 7 tomorrowI also got him a large thing to climb on and a smaller one (that he is on now) since he is so small right now. Had a mishap with the basking light, the fixture was broke out of the box so I just got back with the current basking light for him. Temp in the tank is low right now because of it. Store was out of any thermometers and humidity things so I got that dual one for now to get a baseline and Ill get better ones when they are back in stock
Its metal actually. And temp is creeping up to 85 degrees now with the light running for about an hour now since I had to go get a replacement when thr one they sent didnt work then my car broke down in the parking lot. Been a heck of a day. The humidity gauge hasnt moved since I put it in the tank and if its correct too high. They said they were getting some of the better gauges next week when they get a new shipment. And I need to get more hooks to hang the bar light, then I can get it off the grate. Also the basking lamp is about 10-11 inches above the highest spot on the rock formation. What is the temp and the one you have now is a stick on or does it have probes on it? Ok you want those basking temps up to 105-110- that is what starts digestion- you can use picture wire hangers for the UVB they are bendable and easier to use - the distance is good but the grate is blocking 30% of the UVB rays -- is the grate a wide hole type or is it a fine mesh like a screen door - your not getting accurate temps w/ the stick on your getting ambient temps - you want ambient temps on the hot side around 100 -- he is just a little guy--- his eating is going to be off and w/ temps incorrect and UVB needing correct placement this will all effect his eating -- just a heads up on that -- once you get everything correct and the sooner the better since hes so little he will eat maybe not a lot at first but w/ everything then on par the appetite will pick upIts metal actually. Cool I have the wires for the light ordered from amazon, saying they will be here sunday at the latest. Temp is reading at 88 now, looks to be slowly rising. Ill see if I can prop the light on something to get it higher until I can hang it correctly.
