By the looks of the thermometer picture & your avatar, your basking temp is not 100F, the glass is. Those analog thermometers are notoriously inaccurate & when stuck to the glass, give more the temp of the glass which is affected by the ambient room temp, as much as the enclosure environment. It is difficult to measure your temps in the right places with them also. Basking temp should be taken directly at the basking spot, it is a heck of a lot hotter directly below the heat bulb than it is 3"- 4" off to the side. Recommended thermometers are digital with a sensor that can be place anywhere in the enclosure or an infrared thermometer (Temp Gun). Both types can generally be acquired & are relatively inexpensive at most larger hardware stores. Digital Indoor/Outdoor thermometers also work very well, giving both temps at a glance when the sensor is fastened to the basking spot & the main unit on the cool side.

Good Luck

Can you show me a picture of what exactly you are talking about so I know what to get? Thx

If I'm not mistaken, Walmart has some digital thermometers (AcuRite I think) quite cheap.

Hope this helps, Good Luck

I looked at my walmart and didn't see any :( so sad.
Both pets art and petco have the digital thermomitors. I got it for $10 and it's a life saver. I had the same kind of thermomiter you have and it was off by 20 degrees. They are not safe and don't work well as germ said.

I picked one up at Petsmart tonight for 11.99 and got her a reptile carpet too and her calcium powder too with some crickets...:)
Cool! Glad to see your buying what you need and not just ignoring advice. Its a sign of a good dragon keeper. When you care to do things right that means a lot. Good job.

It looks ok, but before long at all you will need a 30 gallon long tank, but a 40 gallon tank is needed for a adult dragon.

He also needs to have veggies in the tank at all times basically.

Same things, just cut up smaller! What size enclosure is that? They probably won't actually eat their veggies for the first while but it's always good to have them visible in case they get curious. They will eventually start eating it after a curious nibble here and there. I have some in my hatchling's enclosure.

Well I use dandy lion greens and flowers from around my house, though if your around farms I wouldent pick anything from around my house for a dragon.

This list tells most of the things that will work, though the list is not completely accuret. It is still good though

question: someone told me baby food fruits and veggies are good for them... Is this accurate???
I would like to say no, so I will. It needs to be fresh veggies. And fruits cause runnie poo a lot and smells pretty bad.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the baby food, but baby foods are prossesed and it's not good to feed them it I think. It's just much safer to use fresh veggies

I have only had my dragon for a week, however germ helped me a ton and I learned a lot in this short time. You can never ask to many questions and you can even send me or a mod a private messege(called a conversation on this forum) with questions

As long as we believe we can answer your question fairly accurately we would be more than happy to help. Fresh veggies are the best for your beardie, fruits only as a treat occasionally.
