My bearded dragon named geico is my first bearded dragon ever. I was wondering if it's normal for him to stay in his tree we have for him and to stay on the cooler side of the tank? I will try to get a pic of him as soon as possible.

The "hot" side might be a little too hot. What are the temps? And what are you using to measure them with?

I use just a regular store bought thermometer.... It reads the hot side as 95 degrees fairenheight.

What kind of lights are you using? Do you have something that gives off uva/uvb rays? It looks a little dark in your tank. Other than that, your setup looks fine, but a little more decor wouldn't hurt.:)

I have a basking bulb on the left and a nighttime bulb on the right... it looks dark because the nighttime light is red.

Also, do you have any lights with uva/uvb rays? Those are important for beardies and without the proper lighting, your beardie will become sick.

Usually, the rays come from a fluorescent tube-like bulb. I use a repti-sun 10.0 tube which you can get at a petstore for around $20 I think. Or you can go with a mercury vapor bulb that combines heat and uva/uvb rays in one bulb. But those can get pretty expensive.

You should not need a night light how cold does the room get at night. I don’t use sand it can cause impaction. The UVB is a must.

I feed him crickets and greens.... I ordered hornworms for the first time... I will soak him every once in awhile... it seems as if he doesn't like it because he tries to escape. Also i soak him when he is shedding to help him out.
