Hi all,

I am hoping someone can give me some clue as to what this might be.

I have been to my regular vet, gone through a treatment of baytril/ hi vitamin solution( which did seem to help) and have gone to a second vet (who didn't really care about her URI problems) and have been put on a second antibiotic treatment. This video doesn't show entirely what happens, it's gotten to the point where I hear croaking noises and it looks like she is either breathing in really hard or trying to cough something up.

40 gallon wooden breeding tank
Daytime Temps range from 90°-105°
Nighttime Temps 78°-82°
Uvb bulbs 5.0 18 inches
Half of the glass has been taken off of the enclosure to add more air flow
Humidity ranges between 20%-40%

Any information you can indulge will help me tremendously in trying to figure out what is wrong with her.

Poor baby, she should be feeling better soon. With her symptoms, I never would have guessed parasites. Keep us posted on her treatment!

I wouldn't rule out URI as she could be dealing with both..don't think the coughing would be from pinworms.. I don't have experience with URI but I know others here have so they should chime in..

Hi from Seraph! She's been pumped full of panacur (dewormer) so here's to hoping we see some good results!

We're here in California watching the election...here's to hoping for the best ✌

I'm sending good thoughts her way! Once she's worm free, she'll feel much better. And if there is another issue, her system can focus all its energy on fighting it. Couple that with your watchful eye and antibiotics if need be, and there's no doubt in my mind that she'll be happy and healthy in no time.

Really looks like URI to me. A few things the Panacur is going to upset her belly, get a probiotic to give her daily to help settle her stomach during treatment. She really should have a 10.0 UVB light not a 5.0 and she should have a basking spot of 107 for babies or 95 for adults. There shouldn't be a huge temp gradient with the basking spot. Also, at night there should be a temp drop in the tank 70-75 degrees is good at night.

Thank you. I will look into the probiotic. I actually had a reputable reptile vet tell me thay the uvb bulbs were useless unless the reptile was a couple inches away from the bulb. So taking the lizard out and putting her under sun was better to get her the nutrients. And her average basking temperature, with how warm it is here, is 90- 105° .

If you get the 10.0 T8 bulb, or the 10.0 T5 HO, they get beneficial UVB from up to 12 to 18 inches away if it's not filtered through a screen. There are a lot of variables to consider: bulb type, UVB output, screen or no screen, etc. Natural sunlight is the best hands down, but now that it's getting chilly, it's not an option for everyone.

Probiotics are a life saver! I've had really good results with liquid acidophiliz.

Well yes natural sunlight is the best hands down but you can't always provide natural sunlight. Eavlynn is right, they get beneficial UVB from a tube style UVB bulb 12-18 inches away from it.

Hi all! Just wanted to update you on Seraphs condition. She seems to be doing so much better! I was extremely nervous with how sick and she was whether she was going to make it through or not. She is resilient! Im not 100% sure if the breathing issue is gone but i just gave her her second dosage of dewormer yesterday... i was inititally concerned because before we figured out she had pinworms she had already gone through a dewormer treatment. She went through this second dewormer treatment with dosages enough for a small dog! If that doesnt kick those worms in the hiney then i dont know what will. She is still on her antibiotics and i am not going to stop giving them to her until they are gone. See......this is her second treatment with the antibiotics and the dewormer and the first time she did get better but only better enough to let the illness back through or the worms to repopulate.
You have no idea how happy i am that she seems to be getting better, i dont tend to have favorites but she is definitely one i prefer, shes my hippie lizard.

I'm so glad that she's doing better! You may wanna scrap the substrate and put her on paper towels. When getting rid of parasites, the enclosure has to be cleaned at least once a day. Otherwise they can poop out the eggs and wind up reingesting them allowing for the cycle to continue. I remember my battle with coccidia. I still disinfect the enclosures daily haha.

I wish my kiddos would make cleanup so easy haha. Oh no, we can't have that.

I really am super glad she's doing better. Seraph is such a sweet little thing. I look forward to seeing her future posts for many years to come.
