So cute....if it were me....I would put in greens so the crix don't crawl all over her. Hopefully on next feeding she will be hungry.

Well I gave him or her a soak this morning now she is refusing to eat do I go ahead and put the crickets in her encloser or just wait for the next feeding
Just put them in the enclosure, if it does not eat them right away, leave them in there for the day, add more next feeding if they have been eaten & be sure to remove any uneaten crix before lights out. There are some BDs that will not eat while we are there watching them, too much of a distraction. I have had a couple that were this way to begin with, but when we'd leave the room & peek back in around the corner, they would be munching away. It sounds like you may be doing too much, fussing too much with this new one, possibly causing it more stress than good. Give it a week to 10 days to acclimate to it's new environment & get used to you as it's food source. Keep handling to a minimum, other than for maintenance. I wouldn't be soaking it during this time, just periodic quick mistings outside the enclosure.

It's enclosure should have been ready before you brought it home, temps right, etc, so the environment would not be continually changing. I don't understand what you mean, where were you feeding it if you did not put crix in the enclosure when she refused to eat.

Good Luck

I put the dragon in a differant container and put crickets in. I don't never feed in the encloser so that way I can count how many he or she eats within a 10-15 min. I have done the same with Jessie. Ok so I won't soak him or for the rest of week and part of next week then get him or her on a schelue. Sorry that I didn't have his or her encloser ready. I didn't have Jessie tank ready for him either when we got him and he doing good. I will get it straight out. Thank you for your advice. Sorry that sounded like I was mad about what you said but I'm not. And your right I should have had it ready but I didn't

Yes they may do alright in the long run, but it is quite stressful for them when introduced to a new environment, then it is constantly changing, temps aren't right etc. Quite possibly where it's appetite issues are stemming from.

Just put 4 or 5 at a time into it's enclosure then leave the room, if it eats them, 4 or 5 more. Handling it so many times a day to put it into another strange environment, then expecting it to eat is not helpful. It's enclosure should not be so cluttered that you can't tell how many that it has eaten, in the beginning. None of this is helping it to acclimate.

It is not at all that I don't believe you. We can only go by what you tell us here ...
I put the dragon in a differant container and put crickets in. I don't never feed in the encloser so that way I can count how many he or she eats within a 10-15 min.
Why would you not be able to count how many it eats or how many you put in, then  . The all you can eat in 10-15 minutes is only a guideline, but a little common sense has to be used. If the methods that you are using are not working & it is eating very little, then maybe alternative methods should be tried ... And that is what has been offered to you.

You have asked for advice for the issues that you are having. I have offered good advice that may very well help rectify some of the issues & help the transition to the new home smoother. Being defensive & coming back with,' I did it with Jessie & he's ok', does not help this one's situation. Because you did things with Jessie, does not make them good practices to help this one get settled or at all for that matter, as in getting the set up ready after acquiring the BD.

If you think how you are handling things right now are the way they should be handled, why are you having issues & why are you asking for help  .

I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound defensive. Well I know how many I put in there but you know how crickets likes to hide. And I have to let the dragon get use to everything since I have only had it for 2 nights now.
Thank you. Only reason that I soaked it was because I don't think has water in a long time will got I didn't see a water dish so I know it couldn't soak by itself. And since it was a pet store I know that they didn't take it out to soak. And I don't keep water dish in my encloser either. Just take care of this little as good as Jessie.
And did let Jessie when I got him time to adjust. I meant I have alsway feed in a different container so I don't have to wake them up to find crickets because today I won't be home to catch them until almost 11:00pm my daughter is feeding the little one some more crickets when they get off from school

Don't give them a place to hide ;). That's one of the problems of putting a Hide type structure in a new enclosure. Also using a hide type structure as a basking spot, makes the inside of it like an oven, with no air flow. Be sure your crix are well hydrated & gutloaded.

Hi just a pic for you this is the way this looks all the time alseep that not normal is it? He is in a 40 gallon breeder tank. On tile. Cool side is 81 and basking temp is 107-110.0 I'm soaking him or her every other day I've only had him for 11 days now. I only handle him for his soak and he starting to shed on his head and tail I'm little worry about hasn't eat at all he ate like five crickets since I got him.

Is it wrong for me to want to get another one. Wash the tank and it all setup and ready for one. Not going to get it from the same place.

Am sorry to hear about your lil one passing and no it is not wrong of you to want to get another one at all and I would encourage that you do exactly that. You learned a great deal in the short time that you had the last one which can only benefit the next one that you get...you already have the setup so yes I would absolutely say clean everything thoroughly and set it all up...get your temps right and then start your search for a new dragon. I might also suggest that you search for a good breeder in your area and possibly even look into adopting one a bit older to start with. Either way take your time and dont just snatch up the first one you see...when you find the right one you will know and when you get him to his new home it will be a lot less stressful because it will all be set up and ready;)
Enjoy your day!

Yes indeed I knew about your Jessie...a beautiful dragon btw...and I am really happy that he is doing good;) He has also given you a wealth of experience as will any new dragons you might decide to add to your family;)
I have never been one to give up when set backs or even a tragedy happens when it is something I am passionate about....what you have already gone thru with Jessie's eye issue tells me you are the same way...its a good trait to have and another thing that will only benefit your next dragon;)
