Hi everyone
We are new bearded dragon owners. We have a two month old baby and she is precious. She eats and basks but barely stays awake during the day. We have brought her back to the reptile experts where We got her from and they said she just has a lethargic personality. I’m having trouble accepting that as true. Does anyone know anything about Why she might be very very lazy
The temp, bulbs, diet and habitat are all correct from what we have been told.
We are struggling and want to interact with her but she barely moves about
Thanks
Awww poor baby. Lethargy and eye closing can also be a sign that you baby doesn't feel well. Its always good to get you new beardie to an exotic vet for an initial health checkup and fecal tests. Parasites are common in beardies especially if they were housed with other reptiles. Pinworms as well can be and issue. Regardless of checking on the proper UVB lighting and basking lighting, enclosure size, etc. You probably want to get her to get some testing done. I took my baby 48 hours after having him. Crickets sometimes carry parasites and they can get one from a cricket that my be carrying something, the same way we eat something that doesn't agree with us. I hope she is okay in the end.
Proper lighting is key as well to ensure that your beardie can metabolize and digest and gain energy.

She is probably suffering from MBD or has a parasite. If her stools are watery and not healthy poops like oval brown firm one then she has a parasite. The white poop is urine and the brown is regular poop. Go get a fecal sample at a reptile vet it’s only $50. At 2mnths she should be flowing with energy; if she has MBD; she needs proper UVB and this UVB light needs replacing religiously every 6 months. All Beardies need the long tubular UVB bulb called the Reptisun 10.0 T5 that’s the best and most recommended one. It gives off a light and bright tank & emits the proper uVb to keep them energized. The length u buy should cover 70 percent of the tank & should be placed beginning at the basking side. Also, she needs a Heat bulb; the best is the zoomed CLEAR basking bulb. Never Ever use colored or coiled bulbs. Leave both lights on for 12-14 hours in the summer as they have more energy in the summer & in the winter 10-12 hours . At night turn all lights off as Beardies like it dark for sleeping. U can use a ceramic heat emitter which emits heat but no light; use it in the winter if the temp drops below 70. Also, Mist her a few times a day and she needs a bath 2wice a week in lukewarm water & more baths when she is shedding & make sure the water level is below her neck so that no water enters her ears. Buy Reptisafe to place a few drops of it in her bath water to remove the chlorine as chlorine dries their skin. Stay away from meal worms as they are a cheap fatty feeders & will impact them. Also remove any sand I use paper towels as their substrate or white terry cloth towels. Feed crickets and dubia roaches and feed 3-4 times a day for the first 4-5 months then lower the protein to twice a day then as an adult-12 mnths of age lower the protein to 2-3 times a week. And always provide the veggie tray everyday and mist the veggies with water. The best ones are mustard greens, yellow squash, dandelions, collard greens, and blueberries cut in half as treats once a week. Provide the veggies now or as adults they will never eat them. Veggies are for life everyday and mix in 2-3 diff kinds. Stay away from carrots and spinach as it’s got some sort of toxicity when fed to much. Sprinkle the calcium powder 3-4 times a week on the proteins and do the vitamin powder ( Herptivite) once a week on a non calcium day. Here are photos of what to get. Also get her to a reptile vet asap.

Hi thanks for replying
Temp is about 95-105
Bulbs are the combo bulb 125 watt/ all in one reptispa lamp
Diet she’s been eating black fly larvae and Dubai roaches about 3- 4 bugs a day
As a baby she needs way more proteins than that she should be fed 4–5 times a day as much as they can eat. Like 30-40 bugs/crickwta per day fed in 3-4 servings
