i was just wondering if i can use the 8.5'' ceramic zilla fixture with the 100w mega ray.. it sticks out of the bottom just a little bit but its hanging above the terrarium to keep it the safe 12'' away from him while basking.

I'm not positive on the rating of that fixture, but there should be a sticker or tag that will specify the maximum wattage rating. If you exceed that rating, you risk the fixture overheating and potentially burning or catching fire.

in the summer i use a regular light bulb in my heat lamp, it gets so hot out thats all you need to keep the tank at 85-88. in the winter i use a 100 watt basking spot lamp from zoo med. it has worked very well all winter, fall and spring
