I got two female bearded dragons a couple weeks ago who are about six months old. Both seem to be healthy, they are active and eat well. The smaller bearded dragon has been opening her mouth and making a weird noise, it almost sounds like a burp. I have called a couple vets and they haven't heard of a bearded dragon doing that. I also tried to look online and couldn't find anything out. If anyone knows what it could be, could you please reply? I am going to be taking the girls to a vet soon, just wanted to know if anyone has had this happen before with their beardies.

Hi There,
If its a rumble or a wheez type noise coming from in the dragons chest while breathing it could be the start of a respitory infection. When going to a vet please make sure they have reptile experience. It will make a huge diff. in the care you receive.

On a related note, please feel free to PM or email me beardie vet information. I'm going to be compiling a list of vets that are confirmed with bearded dragon experience.

I hope this little guy's check up goes ok!

I'm bringing Kairi to a wildlife center, there's a doctor there that is great with reptiles. I took a video of her making the noise so hopefully that will help. Thanks :)

Just an update: I brought my girls to the vet, my bigger dragon Yuna is healthy. My other dragon Kairi, the one that i was concerned about has a small respiratory infection. The noise that i wrote about when i first posted is Kairi's way of coughing since they cant cough. So now i know for future reference. Both of them are going to be on an antibiotic. I am feeling much better. Just thought i would update everyone.
