I have Leezard, i got him at 6 months old, he is now 6 years old and he's very small and always has been. I've taken him to a specialist Vetenarian and he believes that Leezard has problems during his incubation process, he also believes that in the 1st few months of from hatching the lighting/food wasn't propper for him. He's small bit has a big heart. He eats well, poops well but has never gotten bigger. He has had x-ray and his bone structure is also fine. Nothing wrong with having a small dragon. I'm sure he or she will be just fine. Keep up the cuddles

I've seen there are German Giants and also the dwarf dragons, maybe Leezard has the dwarf Gene [emoji848]

Really make sure your temps are good, when they are dark they are either cold or they are trying to soak up all the heat that they can as dark colors absorb heat better. Since you have plenty of room in his tank bump that heat up some 107F Dragons have the ability to thermoregulate themselves. If he's gapping (opening his mouth) that means that he likes the temp..
So when our dragons start acting weird the standard things to do would be check our husbandry: Temps, when the UVB bulbs have been replaced are they due? Are they eating? are they pooping? when they were last checked by a vet? They should be going to the vet after they wake from brumation and in the fall before they go into brumation.
Main thing trust your gut if you are concerned get them checked, most of all get a fecal done.

So update on Yoshi, brought him to the vet today, he has conjunctivitis, mouth rot and a URI, she prescribed beytril, 1 syringe a day for 20 days, also daily baths at 20 min each. I feel so terrible, I'm doing all I can. I gave him his first dose today, and I'm also giving him .9 ml of retiboost everyday (this is day 2) it was a longer weight at the vet then I anticipated and I fear being out for that long made him worse. He seems as if he is starving for air. Making a weird noise. He seems to be alert tho but I'm still beside myself at this point. How many days usually before the meds start making him better? He needs to pack on weight big time as he is severely underweight. I am seriously so depressed over this. Vet said to force feed, I made a smoothie with kale, assortment of squash, red bell pepper, cabbage, super worms, meal worms and crickets with repashy powder mixed with water. He don't like it but I know he needs it :( I just want to die right now I feel so fucking terrible.

Oh and vet checked his poop and she said it looked good and didn't feel a need to do a fecal at this time. I feel like the people at petco steered me in the wrong direction before I found this forum and now I fear the damage has been done and I'm gunna lose my baby :(

So sorry :( Just a few helpful things. Kale binds to calcium. Usually it's okay to feed if fed with other greens but in this situation I would avoid it all together. Get some dandelion green, mustard green or turnip greens. Get super worms instead of meal worms because meal worms have a hard shell that is hard to digest. Crickets are good, BSFL are even better because they are high in calcium. Also get a probiotic, the antibiotics are going to be hard on their belly and they aren't going to want to eat much. You can order something from Bug delight or bearded dragon.co or you can get children's culturalle with no added sugars or flavors. Keep the tank on the warm side, even at night bump up the temps. It will help dry out the RI. The most important thing is to go slow when syringe feeding. They can aspirate pretty easily so go slow and don't struggle with him.

Did they give you chlorhexidine to clean the mouth with? If not order some and make a dilution with water until it looks like a pale blue. I put it on a q-tip and then slowly roll it in the mouth on the gums and teeth.

It sounds scary but with patience and the right care you can nurse him back to health.

I will definitely pick up a probiotic as soon as I can and they gave me Betadine with instructions to mix it to a weak tea color. I will pick up some different greens. Thank you for letting me know about the kale I will go see what else I can pick up and I have been giving him superworms the meal worms that I gave him we're actually Blended up in a blender when I gave that smoothie I usually only give him about a milliliter of food cuz I'm not sure how much to force feed when I get home today I'm going to attempt to see if he wants some bugs on his own he never really has been much for eating greens I'm still trying to get him to eat a salad. I just want him to feel better cuz it breaks my heart to see him like this

Can I leave his heat lamp on at night if I shut his other light off? I usually don't use a heat lamp at night as it don't drop to cold in my house, so I would have to go buy a ceramic one....I will if I need to tho!! I have some regular bulbs at home I can use as well to the bump up the basking area temp, its a soft white halogen bulb 100w, would that be ok to use for basking?

I make my own slurries I use the greens I put in their salads so collards, endive, turnip (what greens I can get ahold of) then add in my supplements and when I need to put some bugs in I throw in my dubia that are gut loaded, supers..I use a magic bullet. When they are in the bath I drip it on their nose sometimes they are wanting to eat eagerly and sometimes not and it just takes a few drips for them to get to licking it up.. just go slow and allow them time to swallow so give breaks.

Don't leave the bright light on at night, it will disrupt his sleep and interfere with his recovery process. If you have a CHE us that. You don't want it too warm at night but in his case I would say 70-75 would be good. If that is the temp without a light then I would say not to worry about it then. I know at night even though my house is 70 the tanks are about 5-7 degrees cooler.

Well, I'm at a loss, I brought yoshi back into the vet, there they said he was dead. I took him home with me so I could give him a proper burial, and he started breathing again?! He had no heartbeat??? I don't understand.....I called the vet, they have no idea either. Idk if he is going to make it, but he sure has the fight in him

He is doing good I feel, he seemed somewhat interested in a cricket last night, attempted to eat it but missed and didn't try again, he dont move a lot but seems more active after a good soak. Im still giving him his antibiotic and reptiboost. I didn't really try to force feed anything yesterday other then those 2 and a little bit of water....I'm still in shock! He is like the zombie dragon now! Extra kisses and snuggles, it was scary, now I'm just trying to wrap my head around things

He actually chowed down 8 super worms this morning after his repta boost and antibiotic, he still seems as if he is gasping for air every once in a awhile but not like he was, I took a log out of his house to give him more room on the ground but he dont hang out there often. Both eyes where open this morning as he was perched on his bridge. I have faith he is coming around. But I don't understand how he can be pronounced dead.....then just come back like this....in glad I didnt bury him!!!

That is such a crazy story. I think their breathing becomes so shallow that it seems like they are gone. It's good you brought him home and didn't leave him at the vet.
