in order to keep the basking spot hot in my 40 gallon long tank i jhave to use 2 100w clear household bulb on one side with the 20'' T5 fluorescent tube light across the top. i feel like its not enough lightt though when its on by itself it doesnt light the entire tank.. it that ok?

you need a good UVB bulb how hot are you keeping it my cages are 36''x24''x24'' and
i use a 60wat

well with the 2 100w bulbs it gets up to 100 degrees on the basking area and the cool side around 75-80 degrees. and im using the fluorescent tube(uvb) and i added another smaller bulb(UVB) to sit right next to the basking area
