We have just gotten a 6 week old mini pig last week. We have read a lot on how to acclimate it to us as it was a free range piglet and never held by people. He’s held several hrs a day, eats only from our hands, and is petted a lot. But, he still is scared of us. He runs and bites when we go to...
I have a aunt who breeds snakes and owns a few lizards including a monitor. She’s now taking care of it, as I can’t care for such a large breed. We believe it was dumped in a small pond or down a storm drain so I don’t think we will find the owners. So far he’s doing good and is eating. Still...
Welcome!! I hope y'all get the beardy. They are great pets for kids. I have two little children as well who love their beardy. If I could suggest, if u get a beardy look into getting a juvenile and not a baby. The babies are scared and will bite for a couple of months while they get use to...
Sounds like u have got it going. :). Not sure why she has yet to shed. Maybe just a late bloomer. I think mine stayed small for a little bit before she started growing like crazy and had three sheds right after the other. Give it a little more time and just watch her weight, length, and poop.
Oh, and welcome to the forum. :). Go to Heneral Dragon Discussion than to General Info/Setup and read the stuff Hydrudr posted. There is a lot of good info on setup, lighting, and diet.
Keep an eye on her poop. Will be Greenish black with one part white. When mine was a baby she would poop everymorning. And feed at least an hr before the heat lamp Turns off so her food will digest. R u dusting her food with calcium and vitamins? Also what are the temps in her tank?
Just realized it's been a while since I have posted anything on my Beardy, Mr. Gus. She is about 10-11 months old and 17 inches long. No idea on her weight.
She loves turnip and mustard greens and even though I introduce a different fruit or vegitable everyday she sticks to her greens. And...
Thanks for your reply Cori. Like with our beardy the kids will have little to no contact tell it gets older and out of its biting stage. Gus was mean and it took me 4 months to get him used to us and to stop biting. And all playtime like with Gus will be adult supervised to make sure pet and kid...
When my kids turn 5 I buy them their own pet. For my son it was his Beardy Mr. Gus, and for my daughter I want to get her something cute and fluffy. Husband is allergic to cats so we can't have one. But I came across sugar gliders and their playfulness and gentle nature would make a great pet...
