Hopefully the little guy is still going strong because I see this is an old thread but definitely post this question on a plethora of beardie forums and Facebook groups to get as much insight as possible. Find some beardie Breeders or exotic vets on Instagram or what have you and DM them. I’ve...
I know this is an old thread, but just for future reference unless you’re running your hands through land reptile poop you’ll be fine. The only time you really really do need to wash your hands before you touch food or your face is after handling aquatic reptiles as they are much more...
Also to add the UVB is a T5 inside the terrarium suspended about 12 inches above him. Also he is very active and has a set schedule via power output timer. Every morning when the lights flick on he’s up with his beard fluffed getting some sun and every night he’s out by the time the lights are...
Hey y’all I had a quick question. I bred beardies last year that had a hatch date of 4 JUL 2019 which puts them at almost a year old now. I kept one of the babies, and gave one to each of my little brothers (2 total) and sold the rest. My littlest brother ended up taking the runt who turned out...
hey y’all, I have a 20” tube UVB (reptisun) in the hatchlings enclosure suspended inside about 8-12 inches away (pending where they’re at). Reason it’s kind of at this middle distance is because I’m not sure if I’m able to “mix” the bulb + housing. The housing for the bulb is the reptisun T8...
hey yall, we hatched our first ever clutch of beardies (13 of them!) and they’re all doing great. They’re three weeks old now (some a few days less than) and they’ve all had/are having their first sheds and getting so big. All but one. One of the little guys doesn’t seem to want to eat or grow...
so our week old beardie hatchlings just ate a round of crickets and greens. However as soon as they were done, the power went out because were in the middle of a major storm. I’m afraid that since they have no lights and can’t bask, something will happen to them regarding their stomachs. I have...
hey y’all, about a week ago tomorrow our first clutch ever hatched. We have them in a pretty good set up with a basking spot on a rock of 100 degrees and on a stick that sits a little higher at 105. There’s 13 of them and they’re in a 45 gallon tank. I have a 100W basking bulb on top (temps are...
UVB’s don’t get hot, but the radiation being that close can give them sunburns. You don’t get sunburns from the heat, you get them from too many UVB rays. All of ours (tube and compact) are ReptiSun T5 10.0’s
Also, keep in mind that I’ve only owned these three baby dragons for about 3 weeks and we’re fine when I left for vacation and all of a sudden rapidly deteriorated while I was gone, so it wasn’t like an entire year of exposure to UVC or bad UVB or something. Three of the dragons that are sick...
hello all, I was just wondering if there was a group message/GroupMe like app that had a reptile group chat with a bunch of people in it? I think the community would greatly benefit from it in that you can get fast replies or fast updates from people. Thanks!
Not sure how credible this is or the source. Most UVB tube bulbs say keep 12+ inches away as not to get burned. Also never heard of the mesh thing. Not sure how anyone would ever keep beardies if every single one had to have a custom tank with inside lighting because you can’t leave any lizard...
I’ll have to do more research, but everything I’ve seen says the new ones are okay to use for smaller tanks. Also that dragon may have had other factors such as that heated fake rock which can be extremely dangerous. We also give the beardies that don’t have the tube lights calcium + D3 so they...
