Great, just make sure it doesn't go too high. You are going from a 40w to a 100w. Keep an eye on it. If you were at 90* at 40W then the 100 might be a little too high. Sorry if that burst the bubble a bit, lol! Being too high is just as bad as being too low. If it goes too high, put the other back in and he will be fine until tomorrow. Just don't feed him any live food until then.

Have you soaked yet? That should really perk him up too.

That's good, not much warmer though. No higher than 110* tops.

I have never seen one of those, but if you have a thermostate you should be able to set it and you should be good. Just one questions, does the light shut off when it hits the maximum temperature?

Well here was my first mistake it was actually a 60w bulb before so the 100w isn't actually such an increase, I'm reading a steady 106F now. I will ofc be keeping a constant eye on him tho making sure everything stays okay. Does that temp sound okay now?

The heat mat is also now turned off I wont remove it till in the morning now save messing around with wires and such.

To be honest I couldn't really tell you much about the thermostat myself... From what I've noticed it seems to just pump in enough juice to keep it at the temperature it wants... if it goes too high it lowers it if it goes too high it increases it. Make sense?

As for the bath, I placed in a small bowel of warm water placing a papertowel in it too to be sure it wouldn't be too deep or anything however he didn't take to it at all. He kinda jumped straight out at the first attempt and ran back to his basking spot. I placed him back into it after just for a second try he did stay 1 maybe 2 seconds that time. :') However then ran off back to his basking spot. Good or bad sign?

Temps sound good!

That doesn't surprise me with the bath. However, you don't need to do it in his tank. I would put the bowl in my sink and help him. You can put your hand to help him. It takes a while for them to get used to the water, but most love it. My guy used to swim underwater like a croc. Loved it. Make sure the water is a good temp. Somewhere between 88* - 95* (no warmer).

I give my baby a bath in the bathroom sink. I put a small amount of water in there and he can not jump out. Trust me he tries but can not. My big guy gets a bath in the bathtub. He loves it, I can not have the water too deep because he lays down and takes a nap.

I'll try giving him a shallow bath tomoz, it's lights off atm so yeah. Tbh my main concern atm is waiting to see him eating again... natural fear to worry about him not eating I guess. When that happens I'm a lot happier. :)

I wanna say thanks again for everyone's help in this thread I really really appreciate it.

Acclimation can take a few day. Once you get temps right and you get him a nice bath he'll be great.

G'day mate,

Great advice you have gotten already, thermostat is fine connect it to your CHE if you are going to use one or your heat mat wif you mount it on the wall instead of under the tank. If you are going to use that thermostat placement of the probe is going to be critical. Do not connect the thermostat to the basking bulb that needs to be constantly on (love thermostatically controlled enclosures lol).

Feeding, I would not stress too much about it he is still new so he may not perk up in his appetite for a few days still. Eventually they all get hungry lol.

Now while we are still on the issue of feeding you will need the following if you don't have them yet:
Calcium powder with D3
Herptavite
You will need to dust the feeders with this stuff to makes sure he grows up big and healthy.

Give him time and he'll adjust. Temps are important for their appetite.

But right now, you are a predator to him. Once he realizes that you are the food source, you'll bond right away. ;)

I too stressed big time when I got my baby. His stubborn butt did not eat for almost 2 weeks. Now the little booger is eating about 50-75 crix a day and some salad. So try not to worry too much. I know it is hard but he will be ok. Just have to make sure your temps are up and he is getting daily soaks.

Well I plan to give him a soak shortly then I'll try once again with some crickets just in case I can temp him into some food even if its not a lot. Also the person who asked about the powders yes I have them. :) Same guy I brought my viv off supplied me with some at no extra cost. :D

Okay guys and gals, just to keep you all informed my lil guy seems a whole lot better now! He is no longer seeming afraid when I put my arm in his viv, he will happily stand there and even walk onto my hand. I gave him a small bath as people said I should he LOVED it. He stood for a while where I placed him and then he ran to the edge of the sink, ofc I thought he wasn't taking to it again at first however I left him be for a moment and he was soon in the deepest bit. My sink has quite a dip in the centre so it a bit more water there compared to the rest. His back legs were floating :') he really seemed to enjoy it tho. After that I gave him 15 mins in his viv as I cleaned my cricket keeper out and then tried feeding him. I placed him in a box outside of his viv and placed 5 crickets in with him just to see if I got a responce outta him, straight away he gobbled up 1, then a 2nd. The 3rd took him a while to decide if he wanted it or not... then really he just kinda didn't care. He left the rest and showed no interest in anything other than myself.

I'll try him again later with some more see if I can get some more food down him tbh tho I'm just glad he's finally eaten something. Lets hope he keeps this meal down. If all goes well my next post will be to show you all his viv and ofc show him off too! ^_^

Thanks again to everyone who's helped me out.

That's just great, Adam !
As time goes on, that trust will increase and you'll have a dragon that will go outside on a leash with you, even out to stores !

That is great that he is starting to eat. You will find he eats more everyday and before you know it you will be going through hundreds of crickets a week.
