So very recently my beardie has been opening his mouth — see attached pictures. I’ve read various thoughts, but can you please provide yours on why he now does this?

What a relief — the internet has many negative reasons why they may open their mouth, so I got nervous. So very recently my beardie has been opening his mouth — see attached pictures. I’ve read various thoughts, but can you please provide yours on why he now does this?View attachment 28140
Can u post a top down pic of his back, he looks great to me. If he’s getting water every other day, that should be enough water.

NO INFECTIONS HERE- GREAT POSTYep, it’s called “gaping” - just regulating his temp, means he’s warm and happy! Now, if you notice any nose or heavy mouth secretions he could have an upper respiratory infection and it would be best to get him to a vet. Note - thick saliva around his mouth is just from drinking too much water and is nothing to be worried about. Don’t worry, as long as his enclosure is perfect and he’s eating and pooping, he’s good - they’re very hardy little lizards.
That’s a submissive wave, my beardie has only done this once when I was getting some worms ready to feed himThank you. And just now, for the first time, he’s “waving” at me with his front foot.
Does that mean he’s scared or intimidated by me?
