We are moving from the US to Switzerland and would love to take our Beardie with us, ideally on the plane. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I will check for you w/ someone who has more knowledge about this and I am thinking NO --- it seems they haft to be flown by themselves --- let me check and I will get back w/ you

Thanks - even if I can find a way to send him by himself that would be helpful. The usual Pet relocation companies don't seem to do it and other courier companies only do it within the US. Airlines seem to only allow Cats and Dogs, even in the hold. Thanks again for any help

this is what was recommend by a friend of mine

Moving to a different country can be tough. The regulations vary quite a bit. It's best to check customs and immigration websites for the destination for regulations regarding pets and double check specifically for reptiles/exotics since they often have different rules. Best to have all of the documentation taken care of ahead of time. This tends to include vet checks and forms etc but it varies by destination. It may be best to have a professional shipping company like shipyourreptiles handle shipping overseas (I'd take a boat if it were me so I could just bring them with me, but that is unlikely in most cases). They are unlikely to be allowed in a plane cabin.

Thanks. I think shipyourreptiles only does airfreight within the US? Switzerland didn't seem to have any specific restrictions for beardies...

I personally would not fly my beardie (unless it was in your arms the whole time) the cabin they put dogs and cats in is just bearly hospitable for them, i doubt he’d make the trip alive, those cabins are cold dont have good air flow and NO ONE is checking on the animals (its kinda like “throw them all in there and see which survives”) thats why its been reported in the news that a couple frenchies have died while in the cabin, for our frenchie we had to get documents to make her an ESA animal, i think if you can obtain that that’d be your best bet (ud need to go through your doctor) basically just say to the doc “oh im so stressed without my beardie, he helps with my anxiety and puts me at ease” (be aware some planes only always furry esa animals, ud need to check with your airline to see what esa animals they allow, otherwise id ship him like sadie said, going through transit would be far safer in my opinion and probably cheaper and less time consuming, i hope your lizard makes it okay , let us know the outcome im curious to know

Thanks so much guys. I guess we may end up having to leave him with a friend. At least that way he'd be safe...and then maybe we can get another out there. I'll keep looking...and explore the sea freight option...

This may sound ridiculous but pay to get her registered as a emotional support animal because you have a deathly fear of heights/flying. Than she’ll be allowed on the plan with you
