How long does the acclimation period last? I've had him in the same tank for a couple of weeks now. I've taken to just leaving him alone for a few days, only feeding him. Until I can get this bad behavior of his figured out.

it usually last 10-14 days in a minimal traffic area of your home. If you have him in a high traffic area, I would start all over and cover the sides with white paper and then reduce any volume of noise for another week or two.
