Do wire screens on heat lamps prevent burning of tails or do they "help" prevent burning of tails? My lights are going in the enclosure and this is my worst fear.... Any suggestions are welcome.

Personally I've never used a bulb protector/guard. Beardies can't feel the heat on there underside to good and I was told they can cling to the guard thus burning themselves. I'm not sure if this is a common thing or what. But the worse that will happen without one....... whatever touches the bulb (beardies tail, or body) will slide right off in an instant. Also depends on how close they can get to the guard/bulb too I guess.

Mine will be at a much safer distance since i'm using mini halogen spot light bulbs (75W each). I just wanted a second type safe guard. The pedigree of BD I'm buying.... I would cry if he got burnt. He is expensive!
