What is that you ordered?
It’s a nebulizer and the silver stuff is the medicine you put in it. Tracie had mentioned something earlier about one so I did some research and this comes highly recommended. Supposed to use it with him in a small medical bin with this blowing into it everyday for a week and it’s supposed to help dry up the mucus in his lungs. I think it said for 30 minutes a day but I’d have to double check. I should have wrote that down.

Well I took Murphy to the vet again!! They did an X-ray and everything looks clear. He is still open mouth breathing and black bearding. She gave me critical care to feed him every six hours and a new oral medication. I really hope something gives with this poor guy. It’s breaking my heart

They put him on baytril oral meds now. They did a X-ray and it didn’t really show anything. I asked her about the nebulizer and she wasn’t familiar with that practice. Also he is on critical care food. He’s not taking as much as they want him to and I can see he’s loosing more weight. Do I force feed it to him now?? Ugh. I don’t like this rollercoaster

Hi Sadie. It is with a heavy heart I had to let my Murphy go today. He became unable to hold his bowels anymore and was pretty much lifeless. I couldn’t help him anymore and I did everything I could I believe. Thanks for all your help and time. I really appreciate it.

Oh wow- I am so sorry to hear this - I am confused about what happened here - swelling of the left hip and the breathing issue - did you put him down? It is so hard to not know exactly what was going on and frustrating as well w/ everything you were trying- he wasnt even a year old - I dont know what to say - you did everything you could - again I am sorry :(

I did have him put to sleep this morning. I honestly don’t think he would have made the day. He was constantly hiding and not basking which started yesterday I tried to move his basking light to wherever he was but he was cold to the touch and not absorbing any heat. His little eyes were so sunken and so were his fat pads. Yesterday evening his became unable to hold his bowels. He pooped on me while he was sleeping and then again last night in his bed. This started with elevated pinworms on June 7th and then the RI(or so we thought) about a week and a half later. Then the swollen hip which I think was a result of his weakness and he must have slipped or fell of his basking spot. I did remove anything climbing and the hip swelling went down and showed nothing on the X-rays of damage. Looking at his X-ray I’m wondering if it even was RI but his symptoms and open mouth breathing pointed all fingers to it. However his lungs looked clear on the X-ray. He always in 2 antibiotics and there was no improvement. He did have a stand of 4 days of being himself and eating by himself and eating well in fact but it came to a screeching halt and went down a very fast slippery slope after that. I can’t make sense of it but I do feel at peace with my decision this morning. He had no life in his eyes and was so exhausted. Yesterday I started to be able to feel his spine so after all the efforts he was still loosing weight faster than I could try to get him to put more on. Ugh. I had so many future plans for him being part of the family for at least the next 10 years. I even got him a backpack to go on the motorcycle rides with us and all the traveling necessities to camp and travel with us. He did go on a car ride with us when he was feeling ok and he loved it. My heart is broken.

You gave him the best you could he was lucky to have you- A lot of dragons are not as fortunate as Murphy - he knows he was well loved and I feel for you

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you lost your dragon. It seems sudden & I am wondering if the Baytril hurt him
more than helped him. Bless him, I am glad that he was not alone.
My condolences for you.

Tracie
