Where ever she is pooping it needs to be disinfected-- if she is sitting on furniture outside the enclosure and shes pooping there disinfect it - I am not sure how she is reinfecting herself if she is pooping outside the enclosure- this is odd --- Tracie needs to advise here
My thoughts exactly I will clean the enclosure again as instructed but no, she never goes to the bathroom in her cage, ever. Yes we disinfect every place in our home that she poops. I have no idea how she keeps getting infected. Rite now she is at a +2 with the pinworm but she also has a parasite too now as well. I was told it may be a fluke, I am waiting on my bet to consult with another doctor on it. So I am still waiting at the moment. I do appreciate all the advice

Ok I dont know anything about the ratio for parasites but I do know they do have some its when the count gets too high they treat -- your UVB and surface basking temps will her her keep them under control

Yes thank you. I just orderd new lighting even though we just replaced 4 months ago and we will be picking up the probe you said from pet co I screen shot it and saved to my phone and orderd the F cleaner from ebay:) and just orderd all new sand, just now and excavator clay. All should arrive next Thursday the day after our vet visit. We live in a very small town. Very few options. It is a two hour drive for her to see the specialty vet. Our exotic vet here in town is great but she isn't getting better. Sure hope it's worth the drive. This has been very helpful and I'm sure I will continue reading all of these posts from everyone. Glad I'm not the only person obsessed with my dragon!

Hello,

It does seem odd that she would be reinfecting herself if she only goes potty outside of her tank.
The tank really shouldn't have any parasitic issues either. As Sadie has suggested, just do your
best to disinfect the tank anyway to cover all bases.
Just a question here, what exactly do you mean when you help your dragon go potty? Did the vet
tell you to literally use a swab & lubricant to place up into the cloaca to manually help her? I highly
advise against this type of intervention. Procedures such as that has resulted in deaths & or major
injuries of bearded dragon.
I see that you are using canned pumpkin, sweet potato & or squash mixed together to help increase
the fiber in their diet to help out. How much longer will she have to be on the pain meds for? I'm so
sorry she broke her leg
Which type/brand of UVB lighting are you using & do you us a good calcium supplement?

My vet sent me home with large q tips and lubricant jelly so that I can help her poop as the vet has several times. My dragon is constipated due to the pain medication from the vet due to her fracture legg because she jumped off a chair in out living room a few months back and x rays showed a fracture. A while afterwards she wasn't going to the bathroom so we brought her back to the vet which she is their alot because we cannot seam to get rid of her worms. Pinworm. Yes husbandry us all correct iv been reading all your posts, and freaking out when I came to read several posts that states your bearded dragon can die due to helping them poop manually. Is this true? My vet does it then sent me home with the tools to do it...my dragon is almost always sick
I don't know if this will help but here's what we do.
We hold our bearded dragon a ton (any time we can). When she wants to run aroumd we let her on the bed or floor.
By petting her down her back and tail (I wrap my fingers around her tail and per her whole tail) ... by hour 2 she is ready to poop.
I follow her eating desires (super picky! And the only constant has been her gel food and live meal worms). I have to give her water by putting it on my finger and then kinda rub up at her mouth opening to let water drip in.
During the summer she would poop daily because we have a lot more time to hold her. During the school year I only have 30min each morn and the time I pick her up at night I only have 1-2hrs and it's usually at her bedtime.
She picked her bathroom area in her tank when we got her so we keep a paper towel down on the bathroom area amd there's space between her food/water area.
It's awful when they're sick!! And expensive. I hope your little one is better soon!!
