Do not pick at the shedding skin. If there are pieces that are persistent and don't fall off, try upping the humidity with a spray bottle. The moisture should loosen things up.

Misting & warm soaks is the only help to give a shed. BDs shed as they grow out of their skin, sometimes they will be patchy sheds, different body parts may grow or fill out faster than others & only that part will shed. There is no specified 'How Often". Same for how long, different BDs, different sheds, different lengths of time. At times, it seems that it takes forever to complete a shed. Generally once it starts to flake, mistings & warm soaks help to speed the release.

And as I have learned, we must be patient! I never knew how long shedding could actually take place! My beardie has been shedding on and off for over a month now so as stated above, it can take a while!

My dragon is shedding right now and he's just laying around not doing anything. He is in the same position under his hide-a-log that he was yesterday. He has not ate any crickets from the time I got him(8 days ago) and he has only ate a few veggies. I have no clue what's going on with him. He was lookin good 2 days ago the. After his bath he has just kind been Latin about. The only herp vet is over an hour away so I just wanted to know if I should take him or wait.

Iggy just started his first shed since we've had him.. he has seemed a lil "off" the last week as far as his personality goes. Not mean or snappy or anything like that but not as social, wanting to be left alone.. I had read on here that they could get irritable when shedding so I was hoping thats what was going on. Just been soaking him & spraying him. He's wiggling around on his hammock right now trying to get it off his neck. His appetite has not left him, this guy can eat.

Where did you get him from?

Sounds normal. Misting is a good idea as it loosens the shed. Sometimes they won't eat and that causes worry. I think the shedding process is pretty cool. I save the bigger pieces and show them to my grandchildren!! They like pick up the shed and ooo and ahh....

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I got him from a woman who raised him from and egg. She has been breeding and rescuing reptiles for 40 years now. As an update drossk Has come out of his shell so to speak. After all the skin from around his head came off he has been very active looking around eating from my hand and all around just acting like I was told he use to act before I got him. On a related note he hates crickets and will only eat super worms and giant meal worms. Is this some thing to be conserned about? How many worms should I feed him? Untill he stops taking them from my hand as soon as he sees them or should I put a number to the amount?
