Scratching on tiles while brumating?

My beardie Norbert has been brumating as per usual since about October. However, I recently noticed that every now and then she'll wake up slightly and just scratch at the tile substrate, then just go back to sleep. I'm not too worried about it; my best guess is that she's just looking for a more comfortable spot to snooze. She's usually curled up in a shady corner of the cool side of the tank.

Would it be worth making some sort of dig box for her? I've always kept her on a tile substrate, as I've been worried about a loose substrate causing impaction. I thought maybe constructing a little controlled area of loose substrate might be a good idea, as she could just want to dig around. Thoughts?

that is fine if you want to do a dig box for her or some sort of loose substrate - play sand w/ some top soil NO fertilizers or anything in it tho -- my guy went down in Oct and is now awake so she should be moving around and alert --- do you have her basking light on and UVB?

Thank you! Norbert has always brumated for strangely long periods of time... the longest I've seen her do it was from October to March!! It astounds me, really. But she'll be eight years old this year and it's never given me any trouble, other than missing her company. Her basking lights and UVB have been on the same timer every day, so there shouldn't be any issues there. She's just a sleepy gal :)
