I've come to the conclusion through research that Kai has severe MBD. It makes sense considering his duration without uvb or calcium supplements. After looking up pictures everything matches, down to his very protruding hip bones.

So sorry. He really needs to get to a vet ASAP. He is very skinny and yes probably has MBD along with a few other things including YF :( I'm really not sure if the vet could really do anything to save him but if need be they can humanly end his pain.

After I posted I went back and looked at the first pictures you posted of him. You do need to take him to the vet. He had a little black spot on his right side but didn't really look like much but now that it's spread that is an indicator of YF especially if it's like a raw open wound now. I'm so sorry, I know you did a lot to try to save this boy.

Also, be very careful if you have other reptiles, practice good husbandry. Wash hands between handling and don't use the same tongs or share food between reptiles. YF is highly contageous and not really curable.

Hey guys, things were smooth sailing since I last updated. Unfortunately things went south very quickly. I got home from work and Kai was laying in the corner of his cage which is unusual enough, then he didn't look up at me so I picked him up to check him out. His beard is is completely black and.... Ok right now he's trying to make a bowel movement while my hands, and so far it's just urine. He seems very weak, eyes sunken in. Can't lift his head and mouth is slightly open. I'm heartbroken right now I don't know what to do. The only change he's had was that I got him to eat vitamin and calcium crickets for the first time 2 days ago. He seems to flinch when I touch him and I just noticed a rather raw looking spot on the left side of his back......
I'm affraid he's living his last days.

?? that doesn't sound good :( Please get him to a vet there may be something they can do or if he's suffering... What's his temps? Has his set up changed since the last picture you posted here?? Please keep us posted on Kai...

I am so sorry. That is one of the hard parts about rescues. We can only do what we can do – and sometimes it's just not enough.

This was the last few moments I had with him before he was euthanized. I'm utterly broken, my soul hurts so bad I can barely type. He's better off now, in no pain. I'm going to preserve his body in my freezer until my back yard is ready for a burial spot. Signing off until next time,
-Tyler

So sorry Tyler :( Take comfort in the fact that he isn't in pain anymore and that you did what you could for him in his final days.

He looks like the Girl I rescued and she was so skinny and also past after I had her only a few Days. I can't believe how people can treat an Animal like that. I'm so sorry for your lost. :( But now he is out of pain and I know he knew you wanted to help him to feel better.
