Random puffing?

So today my beardie ate his normal meal and his daily routine he gets to run around while I get his greens ready. Well today he totally stiffed up and puffed out his beard. He has never done this before. I was wondering if he was stretching his skin to finish shedding? Nothing out of the ordinary to spook him. I held him for a bit which seemed to calm him down but then he did the same thing in his tank? Anyone know why he's acting like this?

He is being defensive making himself look bigger than he is, you gotta remember we are HUGE to them so you should get down low and approach him..

Right I understand that which whenever I pick him up I always get down and slow to pick him up. He did this as soon as a I set him down like I do everyday.

He could be stretching his beard. Do you hear any clicking noise when he does it? Does he spit any saliva out of his mouth or nose or eyes?

No none of that. That's why I was thinking he possibly could be stretching to finish shedding. Also wondered if he was a bit cranky with me being away for the weekend lol. Until he got his cuddle time!

The do seem to get a little moody when their routine changes. Just keep an eye on him, if the puffing also involves excess saliva you should take him for a vet visit.

Yeah he hasn't done it since now that he's back on schedule! He's back to his normal pain in the butt self!
