Hello I’ve noticed this thing for a while on my bearded dragon and I thought I’d ask around to get peoples opinions on what this might be, the tail feels normal at first but becomes stiffer the more you go downwards, if it’s tail rot I will probably take her to a vet appointment and get that addressed but if you need to know specifics here’s everything.
Enclosure: 40gal soon to be upgraded to a 4x2x2
Diet: Given Collard Greens and Dandelion Greens a long with super worms and a calcium with D3 supplement a long with the occasional fruits,
Substrate: A bioactive substrate
Plants: Cryptanthus Earth Star Cactus and Spaghetti Agave
Lighting: 100W Heat Bulb 22” UVB Strip Liget Arcadia 12% Desert Plant Grow Light
Watering: Given the occasional spray a long with a provided water dish.
Age: 2 years old could be older.
Health Problems: None that I know of.
Gender: Female
If you need to know any extra or other information I’d be happy to provide just shoot me a message, I want my bearded dragon to be as healthy as possible so anything helps, thank you for your time.
(EDIT: She ate the cactus so that’s why it looks weird lol)

I dont see any tail rot ---- here is some info on tail rot and how to recognize it -- I see spots of shed
Causes of tail rot are:
1. Injuries/trauma - caused by falls, or by any other bearded dragon.
2. Malnourished - make sure he has a balanced diet and he gets the nourishment he needs
How to identify tail rot:
1. Dried out - Decaying tail won't be able to retain moisture, check if it's dried out completely.
2. Very thin, brittle - Decaying tail won't be able to process nourishment, causing it to become more thin and brittle.
What to do after finding out it has a tail rot:
1. Go to a vet - very recommended

T Ask yourself these questions:
Was the tail recently injured?
Was a part of the tail open (eg wound/scrape/cut)
Was flesh exposed?
Is the tail constantly dark? or does the darkness ever go away (eg when in the tank, different environments)
If you didn't answer yes to basically all of those questions, it's not tail rot.
Tail rot is extremely rare. It's an infection of the flesh, from a wound or injury to the tail.
Tail rot is really kind of just a fancy name for an infected wound, one of which is affecting the tail.ail Rot
