Pooping at night

We just went through a situation with Cleo, when we got her, she was fed nothing but silkworks (kinda like eating MacDonald's fries all the time), so we got her on green beans, kale, broccoli and such. What we forgot was the rule of thumb for crix, no more than 2/3 the distance between their eyes!. So...she stopped pooping for 5-days after being as regular as the mail, so I reduced the food intake then this morning, OMFG!!!!!!! nuff said to say that how excited one can be to see POOOP! Yes, we truly love our beardies when we are excited about this.

BTW - mineral oil (medium weight) works very, very well. I use a small syringe and yes she is not happy, but I lift the upper lip and then gently inject it and while it may not taste that good, it works!

Lisa, it would be too hard doing all that in the morning. It takes me 20 minutes to half an hour to feed them. If I had the lights coming on before I wake up, then the time at night would be cut down too, and I would have no time to interact with them. Plus, I do not have a timer.

I have to be at work at 7:30am....and to get there on time, need to be out the door no later than 6:45am. I get up at 5:00am....lizard lights are usually coming on around then. My first hour of every day is devoted to taking care of my cats and lizards before I even take a shower. After feeding the cats and taking my daily meds, my schedule consists of filling a humidifier for my iguana, cutting up fresh greens and veggies, cleaning and filling water bowls, tidying up where necessary, offering bugs on occasion, and feeding the feeders. If I can do it, you can do it. It's not really that hard once you get used to it.

Craiger, but see, I'm not an early bird like you. ;D I'm a girl, I need my shower, hair, makeup, clothes lol! I wake up at 6:45-7:00 am, and I only have just enough time to get ready for school (and make their salads).

I'd really like to "not" be an early bird.....as I tend to sleep in on Saturdays. But I do make sure they get taken care of as soon as I'm up.

Oh yeah....you're a girl. I have twin daughters that are 18. So I know exactly what you're talking about.

Okay, but are you meaning to give them bugs right before I leave?

yes. from a bowl, not dump them out to run about the enclosure

Gina, I feed them crickets so they will just hop out. Plus, I personally don't like to feed them 2 hours within the lights coming on or the lights going off.

the right bowl and they can't hop out. To put them in before lights on.....doesn't indicate the dragon will eat. Most likely he won't. Once he starts......he'll warm up ok.

If I use a taller bowl so that they can't hop out, how will the dragons get access to the crickets?

something like this works well. it's short enough for him to look down on, especially if it's positioned close to his basking site, yet tall enough and narrow enough they can't easily jump out. You always have 1 or 2 jump out.......but don't worry, he'll chase those down.

Ummm I don't think this would work for my juvies? Baby would probably jump in it and wouldn't be able to get out. :D Also, Ace isn't that great at catching crickets, hence the container I feed him in, so they can't escape. So if the crickets were to get loose in Ace's side of the tank, since he's slow, the crickets will just get onto Baby's side.

hmmmmmmmmm............

well, you could do like Craig suggested and have the lights come on earlier, and go off earlier.
