Plexiglass and wood?

Can you build a large beardie enclosure with plexiglass and wood? I havent built much in my life but I think I could manage cutting wood, nailing it together and installing plexiglass...is it harder than it seems? How do you make the top so the lights can show through safely? Will this type of tank keep heat inside? I know id need vents on the side for air. Currently Draco is in a 50 gal glass tank with a top cover...its working well, but as he grows id like for him to have more space to roam and id like to have open front doors. Thanks in advance!

Here is a decent tutorial recently posted by one of the members for a large enclosure, could be modified. There are many enclosure designs with drawings & instructions if you google for them.
