hey guys!
I have a quick question about my beardies diet,
so Reptar is about three months and I feed her about 10-20 crickets a day. Sometimes more sometimes less. I give her a variety of veggies such as carrots, basil, green peppers (not very nutritional I know these are just occasional.), parsley (also occasional), collard greens, and yellow squash. I also give her around five mealworms a week here and there as treats. I recently was stuck inside due to a very bad snow storm and had to give her some of my last resort food which was flukers pellets and didn’t know if it was okay to give her those occasionally if I am giving her a otherwise healthy and well balanced diet? I don’t feed her pellets everday Just the days when I have to leave my home for 10 hours and i don’t want to leave crickets roaming around (since I heard they can bite). I just didn’t know if these pellets could hurt her? thanks for the help!!
Ps. I also NEVER give her the big bugs in this jar since I know they can cause impaction. And the only dead bugs she has from it are broken up mealworms- is this dangerous or bad?
Hi; We rescue and rehome. At your beardies age; he needs lots more protein; like about 3-4 feedings per day 20 crickets or more per feeding; you feed till they stop eating at this age they need lots of proteins and of course everyday the plate of fresh greeens and veggies. NEVER EVER Feed pellets, worse thing you can do to their tummy and Meal worms is a cheap feeder that makes them Fat & Impacts them. Stick to crickets & Dubia roaches after they turn "1" year old you can do super worms as treats in moderation cuz they are high in Fat. Also, omit carrots or do it once per week only. The best and everyday Greens/veggies are: Mustard greens, dandelions, collard greens, endives, yellow sqaush (has Lots of calcium) which they need, butternut squash, green beans and snap peas. U can do red bell peppers once in a while too. Omit the carrots or limit it. Also, buy REPCAL calcium powder & sprinkle 3-4 times a week on the feeders or veggies; feeders is best cuz it slows them down & on a noncalcium day do Herptivite. Sprinkles like you are sprinkling salt on fries til they are lighlty powdered. After he turns 6mnths do 3feedings of protein per day and at 9mtnhs 2/day and after a year old its once per day. But more proteins ASAP hes young and needs it for his bones with the calcium powder and vitamin powder. Also, the UVB light needs replacing every 6mnths; hopefully you have the REPTISUN 10.) T5, its a long tubular bulb and you order a length that covers 70 percent of the tank at least and he needs a hideaway to escape the UVB once in a while. For heat buy a CLEAR Zoomed basking bulb only. NEVER EVER use colored or coiled bulbs it burns their eyes.
