Panacur dosage

Went to a vet this week and was told Smaug had pinworms. Doctor prescribed him Panacur 100mg/mL. He told me to give Smaug 2.2mL daily for 7 days, so that's what I've been doing.

Should have done this earlier, but I decided to double check the dosage with the charts on this forum. I am really concerned because the charts and people here are saying to give bearded dragons way less than that, and nobody says to give it daily. Am I right to stop giving him the medicine? (It's been 5 days.) Have I harmed him by giving him so much???

Just in case it helps anyone in the future, I called my nearest reptile specialist (who isn't even in my state, hence why I went to a so-so vet) and she told me I have been giving Smaug way too much medicine. The charts I saw online are right. He should be having 0.11 mL for 3 days only, then again in 2 weeks.

The good news is, it shouldn't harm him to overdose him as I did, except for a massive tummy ache. Which I feel terrible about, but also relieved that I'm not killing him or anything.

Lesson learned: If you don't have a reptile specialist in your area, you can get a stool test done at your local vet, but CALL A REPTILE SPECIALIST for dosage information/worm count info. Basically for any kind of information, you need to call the reptile specialist.

I'm lucky to a reptile vet within walking distance to me, but I always double check my dosages before I give any meds...my vet will even mark the measurement on the syringe for me.

I hope your little one feels better soon. I know parasites are a bothersome and smelly thing to deal with.

Yes, my vet put a mark on the syringe too, it was just in the wrong place.
