Please help! My bearded dragon has been showing signs of constipation and/or a slow digestive system for the past few months. We performed a fecal test, and it came back positive for protozoan parasites. He completed three doses of antiparasitic medication, but apparently nothing has changed.
His stools are somewhat diarrhea-like and come out in pieces, often containing fragments of undigested food. He usually goes about a week without defecating. His urates look normal.
He is eating well and behaving normally overall. The only issue is when he tries to defecate—he shows signs of stress and discomfort, and the long intervals between bowel movements are also concerning to me.
He has a veterinary appointment scheduled for Monday, but at the moment he has not had a bowel movement for 8 days.
