Hi, all,
I'm new on the forum, checking in from Western NC. I've had reptiles before - I used to have a reptile rescue, years ago, with snakes, skinks, iguanas, waterdragons, turtles, Bearded Dragons (my favorites), and more. I was thinking of the best critter to get for a library pet (I'm a media specialist), and settled on a Beardie. The kids love SweeD, and have learned a lot about her care, her feeding, her bathroom habits (eewww - yuck - Miss, she went poopies again!!??), and her similarity to dinosaurs. SweeD is gentle and curious, seems to love the attention from the kids, and will even sit quietly while they gently stroke her head (under strict supervision). SweeD comes home with me on weekends, and gets her very quiet time then.

Cute.. May I ask what lighting, UVB lighting are? Are you aware of the red (any color) cause damage to their eyes? It keeps them from sleeping, it also keeps their pupils from changing.. They need the UVB and heat to properly digest and synthesize their food..
A few of us have put together info on general care you will find it under several of our comments..

I think what you are doing is great for the children and the dragon.
This forum is full of helpful individuals and wonderful info. When you can please take ^Hydrydr's advice and do away with the red light and invest in a good UVB source. UVB is one of the most important things for these guys. Your beardie will be happy about the change I promise :)
