I wonder if it's lack of knowledge on the sellers part or shear capitalism at the expense at the lack of knowledge of buyers. They would not be hard to cultivate as they are an agricultural pest. Hmmm... there may be a lot of futile vet visits soon enough on keepers part.

He has had them available for quite some time and I never knew what they were or they were in the lady beetle family. I'm so glad I asked even though I didn't really have an intention on buying them

To be honest I had no idea what they were, so I checked the link you provided and clicked the pic and when i saw they were reddish and resembled labybugs, bells started ringing.
