Hi...I have been reading this thread, and although Im new to beardys, I have just taken on Jethro who has vet diagnosed MBD. Jethro was, I'm told, really bad but after some months on the correct diet/lighting he has regained some use of his legs. He will never be running around like a normal Beardy, but he can walk (but has trouble climbing), and is still improving!
Aww, thank you! ;D. Yes, it takes alot of time when you have a sick exotic (I deal with many) but patience helps. There are no quick fixes, especially with MBD and its time consuming too! I spent several hours today bathing Jethro, and aranging his viv to make it accessable for him, everything is low level so he can get on it, and I have to be honest its also expensive. I agree that if anyone hasn't got the time or money to see an exotic through a serious illness...pass it on to a specialist rescue centre (mine deals with Raptors and Reptiles) Many rescue centres cant cope with exotics..... and thats where people like me step in!!!
Pinky, you are doing great work. You may want to create a new post telling people about reptile rescues. This is good content and I would hate for it to be buried in a post about MBD.
I would only be too happy to share my rescue stories with you (I could talk for hours about them!!) My experience lies with amphibians and snakes, tortoise and turtles (and the odd spider!) I have lots of piccies of my 'family'!
