I was wondering about something:
I weighed Precious the other day because she looks so small! Honestly, I thought she'd lost even more than 15 grams. I was thinking if she looses any more, maybe I'll take everything out of her cage...forcing her to be under the uvb and heat again. Maybe that will pull her out of this brumation.
Would it be detrimental if I did that to her?

Brumation is possible. Luci and Dexter used to just get real lazy and sit on their hammocks all day on the cool side of the tank. I'm worried about the weight loss though and if she goes into brumation how much more will she lose. I would have a fecal done to make sure she doesn't have parasites. I think with brumation you just have to let them do what they are going to do but yet still bathe them once a week and offer food. In past years when mine used to get lazy, as soon as I took them out of their tanks they would perk up and walk around the house and play like they normally did.

She last had a negative fecal in July, the only live foods she eats are hornworms, supers, wax and phoenix...she stopped having any interest in crickets earlier in the year. She did poop during the day yesterday after a week but it was too dried up by the time I got to it. We'll get another fecal done as soon as we can. I wasn't able to get hornworms for 2 weeks but I'm picking up her cup today, so hopefully she'll eat some and give me another poop soon.

We celebrated Precious's birthday today. I'm about to leave for work but when I get home, I'll post pics. It was cute.
Could she have put herself into a funk about not being able to have her window time?
Maybe because of all the fuss about having her bday but she was actually out basking this morning. Then, after she got her present (a stolen idea from patsy), she loved it and it allowed her to sit in the window a little longer.
After she was put back so I could get ready for work...she was doing her normal begging to come back out! She also pigged out on hornworms. She was old Precious today, hope it lasts!

They really are goofy creatures. She could have been depressed about her window. I know mine would do that in the winter where they get mopy like kids that can't go out to play.

Dexter's birthday is Sunday! I have to do something nice for her. I've been in such a whirlwind this week that lizards have been neglected a bit (I posted a thread on "other pets"). Hopefully we can get on a schedule this weekend and I can have more time for everyone.

Hi!
I have actually been wondering about brumation and was just about to post something when I saw this thread :)
I believe my guy has just started brumation. He is sleeping in a "bed" I made him on his cold side, sleeping most of the day and hardly moving at all. He hasn't eaten for a couple days but did poop yesterday. When he is awake he just looks at me with his eyes looking all dopey, as though he just smoked a big joint LOL.

Do I just leave him be? Should I move him to his basking spot? Or do I just let this brumation run its course? Do i continue with his regular lights schedule? He is only just over a year so this is my first experience with this.
Thank you for any advice :)

This is him in his bed.

Just leave him be. Leave his lights on and still feed and bathe him as usual. He may actually fall asleep if you put something on top of the hammock to make it darker.

Luci is awake but has that look your guy has during the day. At around 4 he goes into his house to sleep and it takes him a little bit longer to wake up in the mornings. He eats still and poops and if I take him out he will run around a little then go hide somewhere for a nap.

He pooped on his actual bed so I had to wash that one. I just made him that bed for the time being, until his regular bed was washed. I can definitely flip it over to become a hide for him. Thank you for the suggestion :)
I understand that this is normal for them but it sucks not being able to take him out and snuggle or for him boot around LOL I don't want to disturb him for selfish reasons. I suppose I will have to wait till after his bath tomorrow and take advantage of that time with him. I read that they can brumate for a short time up to a month or more. Is that accurate?

Luci was down for a whopping 2 days. Now I take him out if he seems really alert but if he's in his house I just leave him.
