Bayne is out growing all of the decorations and hides in his enclosure and I haven't been able to find much that would work for how big he is. It seems that if it's big enough, it's not sturdy enough. Where do you all find your stuff? I attempted to order one from Amazon and instead of measuring the actual hide, they measured the package so when I actually received it, it was too small! Any pictures of enclosures are welcome as well. Baynes enclosure is a bit plain so I've been looking for ideas to spruce it up a bit as well.

I am always looking for a way to enhance odys enclosure however I don't want to clutter it; but with him growing at the rate he is....

Also he gets funny when I change the layout of his enclosure....I changed it one day and he just hung on his wall all day starting around...then I moved everything back to how it was and he came down and sunned himself...

Ill definitely be following here though; super interested in this topic.

Also I am thinking of going Ceramic and getting away from carpet...

I've ordered off of Amazon. When we set up the tanks we took the chance and ordered mopani wood branches in extra large and they worked out (we had to cut a small piece of each one off). We've also ordered magnetic ledges . Dexter and Luci loved to climb on those. Now that they are older we are looking for things closer to the ground, that's even harder to find. We ended up spending way too much money on 2 hides that are just basically old drawers that had a hole cut in the side and designs painted on them.

I will probably end up doing something similar @PatsyB and create something out of random things. I was curious about branches and limbs. Does it have to be a certain type?

You don't want to use pine or cedar or any wood that is going to give off a smell when heated.

What about branches from outside? I'm assuming they need to be parasite free and what not, how can I ensure this?

You need to bake them in the oven at a very low temp I think it's like 200 degrees for 2 hours.

Thank you! I went hiking behind the house yesterday and found some really neat ones but I was waiting for Tim to get home to bake them. Don't want to cause of start a fire! Got Bayne a CHE today and we turned his lights off for the very first time and he curled right up on his pillow below it and he's already snoozing away. Waiting a bit before bed to check his temps and make sure it's okay. He seems so much more relaxed now. I'm so happy I found this site and all of you. :)

Glad to hear Bayne had such a positive reaction to it.

I am still on the hunt for accessories..

What about plants? Could I just buy some of the fake ones from the dollar store or Walmart or somewhere and either boil or rinse them in hot water? Or does it have to be ones specifically for reptiles?

I think some fake plants will still insight beardies to try and eat them. but in terms of just putting them in I think rinsing under hot water would be ok; I used fake plants for my snake and he was OK; but snakes don't eat plants so id be more worried that the beardy will try it out.

I've seen a few enclosures on here with the viney plant type things and they look pretty nice. Maybe I'll just pick up one and if he tries to eat it (he tries to eat anything green!!) I will just take it out. I'd rather have his enclosure safe than pretty, lol

I'd like to get something to block the top back corner of the enclosure; ody climbs to the top of the rock wall; then tries to climb upside down on the mesh screen; ends up doing pull ups; never fell yet; but id rather eliminate the risk. A fake plant vine across the top would be nice.

I used to use vines when Dexter and Luci were small. Dexter did okay with them, I found that Luci had tried to eat one once, and only once. He must have realized it was fake.

Is there a suggested Log type for beardies? The current one I have is actually for a fish tank; to sink to the bottom and let them swim through; however it is not very textured.

Every so often Ody tries to jump up on it and will slip right off and fall down; doesn't slow him one bit but still; seems kind of cheap....(even though it was $$$$ >.< petsmart....)

I like it's shape and I haven't been able to find any thing that looks similar...
