i actually cut a slit to let all the uvb in under the t5I see why shes going up there the screen is blocking the UVB rays --- the screen is a fine mesh I cant really tell --- if it is it needs to be inside the tank approx 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor piece for a T 5 ---
Have u replaced the UVB? It need replacing every “6” Mnths. It will still turn on but will emit little to no UVb after 6Mnths so u need to religiously replace it. Also is it the 10.0? The 5.0 emits little to NO UVB. It should be the Reptisun 10.0 T5 if you have the T8 it’s ok but the T5 is better. Either the uvb needs replacing or u have the 5.0 which is why she’s craving UVB. They need it for their bones and to absorb/breakdown the calcium. Also, What is that ledge all the way to the top?? Get her a basking platform for the hot side and a hammock behind it on the hot side. Here’s a pic of mine….View attachment 27832
She’s been climbing this wall and chillin up on the ledge.. I have cut a whole in the top of my screen to let more of the uvb in but she’s still climbing up there. Just curious what y’all’s thoughts were.
i cut a long strip off the mesh so its been directIs the T5 under or over the mesh? UVB rays cannot really penetrate mesh properly as the wavelength of the UVB spectrum is somewhere near 300nm wide and depending on the size of your mesh can block off between 30-50% of the uvb. Furthermore, T5's although very good, is nothing compared to what the Sun can produce. Taking this in to account, it is understandable why he would want to get as much of it as he can.
