Is heavy breathing like this normal?

I already contacted my vet. Im waiting for a reply now.
I will not force him or move him much until I get to the vet. Whatever is the issue now nitpicking will not help him until tomorrow.

But changing out the cocofiber for a paper towel might be a good idea for now.

I'll let you guys know about the update
Coco fiber is dry and can cause RI's - please keep us posted on the dragon

Hey,
So i am now fully convinced this is RI.
Tonight for the first time I heard what is akin to coughing and sneezing sounds. I thought it wouldn't be since I didn't hear noises while he breathes regularly but here it is. Going to the vet in a moment.
I had to ask my dad to drive me to the vet. I wanted to go by bus initially because he is busy and I didn't want to bother him much but its very cold outside.

I am defo removing the cocofiber and putting paper towels. Ill vacuum and remove all dust debree when I get home

I just got back from the vet. The situation is very very bad. They found a gingivitis, which explains the lacking interest in food (except insects of course up until last few days), and well as a RI, and whether something else is happening we wont know until either a biopsy or he stabilizes enough where they can run blood tests and scans (right now it's too bad for that).

There was NO sounds, wheezing or coughing from him before today from what I saw (and I brooded over him as much as I could this weekend), breathing with open mouth and such, and today he was doing it all the time. I find it terrifying how during the weekend, when I couldn't even go to the vet, the situation got so much worse.

I just hope the antibiotics and other medicine he got today will help him pull through. I'm worried sick and I feel horrible for not noticing something sooner. But I think I did what I could with college, driving lessons and renovations/moving out basically keeping me away from home. In the morning I'd just put some food in the bowl and when I got back it would be dark already, so I had barely any time with my beardie for about a month.

I swear to God if he makes it I'll make sure he lives like a princess T-T

I am so sorry to hear this-- hes been sick for awhile I would say - dragons will hide their illness its a instinct thing until they cant anymore -- it sounds like you are very busy - I would get your self situated at a slower pace of life and then if you decide to try again I can help you get your tank up to par if you like - coco fiber is terrible substrate - again I am sorry - :(

Hello,

Oh no, I am so sorry that you lost your girl, how awful for you. As Sadie mentioned, they are masters of disguising their illnesses until sadly it's too late to save them. I am truly sorry for your loss. :-(
My condolences.

I feel horrible for not noticing sooner. But most of the days, even weekends, we left home early, basically when terrarium lights just turn on in the morning. Id give something to eat in the bowl (usually barely/un/touched), and we would be back home late when the lights already turned off.

I'm so sad this cost me a dear pet. I sent him to get dissected so we can really see what happened.

I would like to get a baby at some point later on. And I'd like to make a bioactive/naturalistic tank.

Anyway, thank you guys for trying to help me out and being a good space for discussion on this topic. Best we can do now is learn and do what we can to not let it happen again

Hello,

Unfortunately, we have all experienced loss of a dragon. I am quite sure your dragon has forgiven you,
because she knew just how much you loved her! She will always be with you.
If you need anything at all, we are here for you.

Hey guys, I just want to give a little update:
The hystological analysis told me that they found a malignant limphatic tumor, and that the death was ultimately caused by this tumor proliferating into the lungs, causing a collapse.

Thank you for the update - yes it is unfortunate that we learn after the fact of what is going on and cant do anything about it - again I am sorry for your baby --
