I personally wouldn't risk impaction especially with that calcium sand. Like Timbalan said it's like clumping cat litter. Maybe when he gets a little bigger you could put him back on sand.
Even though it says it's digestible? If you all think I should remover it I will. But they shouldn't sell it like that if it's so dangerous!

Sadly in our completely commercialised world, they sell things to make a quick buck, no regard for safety. So its up to us consumers to be knowledgeable about what we buy.

My first reptile (a leopard gecko) was on calci sand. And he started getting lethargic and was impacted, ended up passing because I was young and couldn't afford that insane vetbill for my tiny creature.

Well Greg left the choice up to me. Cause a friend of his uses sand and never had an issue... I'm an over worrier.. So I'll probably take it out..

There are definitely lots of alternatives to the substrate. I'm using repti carpet for now for Apollo, easy to clean and I just stick it in the washer/dryer every few days (of course spot cleaning everyday).

When i get around to making a tank for everyone (Apollo and all my leos save one) I'll be using some leftover tile from our ol stash and using that, from what I hear its easy to clean and a lot less maintenance!

I just did a google search, this is a pretty interesting read. I kinda forget the calcium is the same calcium in antacids

http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/lizards/940811-interesting-info-calcium-sand.html

I use a mixture of paper towel and shelf liner in my little ones tank. He spends the day running around the tank so the shelf liner is put where he runs the most, it pretty much stays put. The rest is lined with paper towel. At night I put a paper towel over his poop spot to make for easy cleanup in the morning! For Dexter's tank she gets repti carpet. She used to have children's play sand but didn't really like it. She would spend most of her day in her hammock up away from the sand. I like the look of slate tiles in the bottom of the tank. I'd have to be in one of my crazy adventurous moods to go get some because I don't drive, so getting it home would be a little difficult!

Oh wow. I'll probably remove the sand tonight after work or tomorrow before I go in.
