I got this bulb about 2 months ago after the last one went out. It was the only one I could find. The picture of his tank is old. There’s no crickets to be found near me. The closest pet store is 45 mins away. So everytime I go, they are always sold out. We’ve been doing super worms. I’m waiting on a call back from the vet. I feel awful! He’s been so great until this hard winter! Ughhh.

Hear you on the winters. This is my guy's first winter and it's been harsh here, too. We've lost power a few times already and one lasted for 5 days. Know how you feel fretting. Hopefully vet finds nothing too serious or something that can be cured quickly.

I'd order supplies online if you can. My pet store (30 minutes away) recently ran out of dubia a while ago and when I went today they are out again. Argh! I finally have everything I need to start my own colony except some breeders (I've been scoping them out online) so I won't have that problem once it's established.

Pet store also doesn't carry the UV lights I need so I order those online. Might be the way to go with the shortages you're experiencing. You can get everything you need with the touch of a button or two and there are some pretty reliable sites you can order from. :)

Can I just say I really appreciate your coworporation. Dragon are awsome animals but need lots of care given you are willing to change anything your doing wrongs means you truly care about giving your dragon the life. My dragon is currently alseep in my lap right know as I’m writing. I have only had him for 2 and a half months and he if 3 months old but I love him so much. You sound like you are doing everything you can to give your dragon the best life so thanks you

Please help. We have a dragon that is 1 1/2 years old. I found him a week ago flipped upside down in his cage. I just assumed he fell off his hammock. This morning I found him upside down under his log he sleeps under. Then my husband saw him do it. He’s acting very different and seems lethargic.
Hi, how is your beardie doing? Have you been able to take him to the vet yet? As previously stated, your beardie is showing classic tell-tale signs of being incredibly ill, but stay positive and try your best to fix this! It's definitely not brumation. It's important you get him checked out right away. It's also vital that you change your set up. Coil lights are one of the #1 contributors of death of our beardies caused by MBD (metabolic bone disease). BUT, if this is correct, it seems like everything can be reversed along with the help of a *professional*, which I doubt any of us are and you need that ASAP. Back to the coil lights, you need a linear light ASAP. I use a T5 HO ReptiSun 10.0 (it's placed on top of the mesh about 13 inches from her basking spot) and your vet can confirm but if you're going to house it inside, you might want to look into a t8 I think. Idk, you'll have to research what's best for you but you *need* a 10.0 reptisun linear light and if you have a knowledgeable vet, they'll be able to confirm the dangers of a coil light (mine did). Good luck and God bless your beardie! May he return to full health!

This is NOT brumation he needs a Vet asap!! Sounds like ADV &/or he needs proper UVB!! Remove any and all colored or coiled bulbs ASAP. Colored and cooked burns their eyes!! Get a zoomed clear basking bulb for Heat and the Reptisun 10.0 T5 for UVB!!! It’s a long tubular bulb; The length u order needs to cover 70 percent of the cage. U order from Amazon or go to a specialty pet store also he needs a hideaway to get away from the uvb get a hammock and place a soft terry cloth towel over it so underneath is his hideaway!! When u feed him crickets do it out of a large ziplock bag dusted once per day with repcal 4times a week. Sprinkle the calcium powder shake the ziplock and feed him the crickets!! Also if he’s not warm Enuff he won’t. Eat wait 1-2 hours after basking to feed him also akways. Plate of fresh veggies and greens. Rite now the uvb and heat ans remove colored or coiled bulbs it burns their eyes and a vet asap to test from ADV which is deadly and contagious!!

Yes! Reptilian arts is the best pricing I've found & shipping time is very fast!
Getting a breeding colony is an idea, though it's rough money wise to get started, it's saving cash in the long run & never have to worry about stores running out. Will be starting mine in a week or so since now it's starting to cost $400 monthly just to feed mine roaches. Also going to look into breeding BSF as I'm needing more & more of them. $500 monthly to feed a pet is craaazy...

You mention Terry cloth but can it be fleece? Fleece would prevent claws snagging & mine loves his lil blanket.
I would feel terrible taking it away. Washed it once & stuck a baby burpee pad where his fleece went & he scratched the glass then stared me down til I gave in & immediately hopped on it & FINALLY stopped staring at me. So fleece?
Haven't heard of contagious diseases?
Glad I saw this mention cuz I almost rescued another. Now I'm having second thoughts since it may hurt mine. What is ADV? Weird that in tons of stuff I've been reading that it's never been mentioned. Thanks!

Five days? Oh my! What did you do?
Five days? Did that have any effect, eating wise or anything?
I have a battery operated fish pump but does anywhere sell anything for reptiles that require heat & uvb? Five days? WOW!

Yeah, five days of stressing. lol

Yup, it affected his eating, because I wasn't feeding him much. We have a generator, but I was only able to keep his lights on for a few hours or so each day. Because I couldn't run his lights for long periods, I gave him bare minimum of chow. He wasn't a happy beardie, but he stayed healthy. He got quite a bit of cuddle time with mum, though, since I'd put him in my shirt to keep him warm while his lights were out. :)

Dunno on the battery operated reptiles heat & UVB. You'd think there'd be something out there, right? I'll have to do a google search and see what I come up with. :) Might not be a bad idea with as many outages as we have up here. We can even get them in the summertime if the winds are high enough. Sigh.

Fleece is amazing!! And u can get him soft teeny pillows like a donut or bone shaped from petco they like to prop on it when basking or when sleeping they like their heads to be elevated. I use terry cloth as the substrate so it’s easy to clean the poop; u gotta jeep the cage super clean so they don’t get Coccidia. ADV is deadly it’s basically star gazing; there’s no cure but they need lots of water/vitamins & a veg & the cause is poor living conditions, improper breeding, & fecal matter of an infected dragon. Google it; it’s very sad. Also, always do a fecal sample of your Beardies poop; it’s only $50 at a reptile vet if the poop is runny or smelly, then he has a bacteria or lighting is off and he’s not getting proper basking heat.
