I also agree that with time to acclimate and the changes in the uvb and the temps he should be fine. Sounded to me like he had already decided to get a "new" beardie from somebody he knew, also from a chain petstore. I did recommend if he was deciding to "trade" then to go for a beardie from a breeder. But you guys are right...

Lisa, as always, you've given excellent advice in this thread. Let's try not to talk about a member on his original post. We've made our points and we should let him/her think about it and answer for themselves.

I know we are all passionate about bearded dragon care. That's why we are here. We need to welcome new members. And we never have the full picture via a forum. I agree that it is most likely relo stress coupled with incorrect heat and light. But without actually seeing him, observing him, who to say that there is not an underlying issue?

I'm sorry he died. That does happen with young dragons at time. I am glad you got another. Just follow what was suggested when it comes to temps, uvb and food and chances are you should be okay. The first guy could have been sick before you brought him home.

If you don't have the money, don't get two dragons. It's very important that they have their own homes or one will probably end up eating the other one, and you don't want that to happen. Use the money you were going to spend on another lizard to get the proper lighting fixture and thermometer. It wouldn't be right to have two dragons housed together in improper conditions - if you keep the setup you have now and put both of them in the same tank, one or both of them will probably die in a few months. I hate to be blunt, but it's true. Focus on one at a time and move onto two lizards once you have one healthy one and the money to get another.

I'm so sorry to hear the little one did not make it. RIP.

Glad to see the new family member is adjusting to his new home. Let us know if you have any questions. Remember temp, light and food are very important for any dragon to thrive in captivity.

make sure you watch him closely, anoles are not good for them to eat and can cause impaction especially for little dragons. They have bones and the bones are very hard for them to digest. Going forward do not let him eat anoles, stick to foods on the food chart.

it sure did not sound like an accident. I am no longer going to reply in this post as I feel the information that has been given is being ignored and I do not want to read about how there is something wrong when it could have been prevented with the the knowledge that has been shared.

Did the pet store tell you it was okay to put the beardie in with the anole? You said you went to a Petco and you live in MA...what part?

Make sure the temps are up to a proper temp measured with a digital thermometer. Since he ate that make sure they are upwards of 110* and give him a good long warm soak in a tub to help him digest that. You are going to really have to watch him good for the next couple of days.

Yep, not good he ate the anole. I think this should answer any thoughts you had about getting a second dragon. They are territorial and should not be housed together.
