my dubia colony has grown quite large that i had to get a second bin and was using an infrared heater for just the one bin. my question is can i use a rheostat temp control with a heating pad?
I heat mine in a closet. I have 3 tubs and they are all heated to appropriate temps for growing/breeding with a black light bulb 100 watt. I'm not sure that your heating pad has the capability to fluctuate in heat when the rheostat is adjusted? You could always try to adjust the pad so its halfway under the tub, all the way, etc.. Make sure you have an accurate digital thermometer or even better, heat gun.
