Heated rock or just under-the-tank heater?

Should I get a heated rock for my 6-month-old? Or just an under-the-tank heater? And if I get a heated rock, does it need to stay plugged in 24/7? Or should it be turned off at night?

Please do not get a heat rock !! An under the tank heat pad is ok but if the temps get below 60°-65°F, you should get a moonlight bulb bc it's much safer. But if the temp in your house/beardies tank doesn't get below these temps, you don't need any heat source at night, and definitely nothing that gives off white light. If you do have to get a night time heat source, make sure it's a blue or red bulb so the light doesn't keep him up bc he needs at least 12 hours of no light :)

Bearded dragons actually can see the colored night lights. They can see a great spectrum of colors that we can't even see, even with their eyes closed. If you look at the top of their head you will see a small pinhole, kinda looks like a backward scale. This is called the "third eye" and allows to see things with their eyes closed and sense danger that comes from overhead.

I can say that I have a red night light on my frogs tank that is near the bearded dragons and it doesn't bother them but it's also not right on top of their tank it's a couple feet away.
