is it bad to just leave the greens in there all the time? as long as they are still fresh that is. he seems to eat it at his leisure as long as i just leave it in there all the time.

I put my greens in about an hour after lights on till 2 hours before lights off, thus a total of 11 hours. Mist them 1st thing to prevent them drying out and sometimes I add more at lunch time if she ate a lot, or Ill just mist them again.

She also eats in "episodes" throughout the day

I leave greens in all day, misting them or adding more.

It's fine to leave them in there. If they soil from the heat, clean up and replace with fresh salad.
