Enclosure size

I'm just wondering about the size of an enclosure for an adult bearded dragon. I have read that 4x2 foot tank is ideal however I don't have the room to make it 2 foot wide so I am wondering if I could make it much longer and a bit thinner? Maybe 60/62 inches long and 12-14 inches wide? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

12-14 isn't wide enough. You figure they get to be 18-22 inches long, you want them to be able to turn around comfortably in their tank without being cramped.
