Hey guys, obviously from the title my male beardie is not eating well. heres the info
Housed in a 4 x 2 x 2 custom tank with a female bearded dragon of the same length.
temps: basking spot is about 107 F, cool side is about 87 F and night temps are about 74 F, so the temps are very good.
the substrate is sand but the problem started before i moved them into the new tank, where they were on alpapha pellets(dont buy this stuff it smell pretty bad).
the female eats just fine and he eats enough to live, so i have to force feed him so he can keep healthy.
neither have any other symptoms of any deseases or problems, other than him not eating.
I use a 10.0 uvb bulb.
i know what some of you are thinking dummy housing two beardies together, well thats not what the prob is becuase they were both housed together for months together with no eating or other issues. so...
and the funny thing is he trys about once a week to mate with her but he does not know what to do.. he will do the head bobbing, beard thing. get on top of her but then stop.
so guys if you can help at all plz do so and ask if you need any other info thx

Separate them and see how he does. give it a week or two and keep track of his weight.

I agree. You should seperate them. It doesn't really matter how long they've been together. Usually, beardies won't do too well together after a while. Try doing what Bill and Karen said. That would be the best way to find out for sure.

ok... what if i seperate them and he still does not eat, where should i go from there?

Hi Nicholas
Don't stress out if he doesn't eat right away. He will probably go through some relocation stress when you first move him which can casue them to stop eatinf for a day or two and sometimes up to a few weeks. I do think that seperating them is your BEST option right now though.
