She (my big girl) does that as well as maintaining many other positions. I think it has a lot to due with the contour of the surface and how they are comfortable adapting to it with balancing their body and tail with their arms. Let me tell you something. These are very strong animals.
Did you ever get a real good look at both hind legs? Pure muscle. And my B.D. is just hysterical with how she uses her hind legs to push me away if she doesn't want me doing something or I might be doing something she doesn't like. When I give her a bath, and she gets water in her ears, she takes her rear leg and foot to shake out the water like we do with our fingers.
I really wish I can spend more time with her. They are truly amazing animals. It just doesn't make any sense to me that a reptile can act in such an extremely intelligent way as well as being so care free in their interactions with us.
Just blows me away but I love it!!!!!
I know I deviated from the OP point but I just had to say this somewhere. Sorry.
This is an adorable picture though.
