So I will take him outside when it’s hot and I’ll turn the house to 72° that’s the most my parents will let lol. But the summer is almost over so I’ll have to figure something else out soon. And that do you mean plop him up angled?
I’ve been using the 5.0 bulb ever since I got him…. Hope he’s not hurt! The vet told me that the way UVB bulbs work is that by 4 months they start deteriorating and at 6 months it’s dead so he said I should replace it 4-5 months after I get it so since he said that I just got the 10.0 bulb so if I start using that will he be more active? Cus he’s pretty lazy.
Some bulb companies say their product is good at least 6 months. Maybe 9. For about $200 there a device that lets you check the bulb for effectiveness. For $30 or so bucks I’m just gonna get new, have about 1 month left on my current bulb.

Mine likes to cling to my chest and climb on my shoulders, body warms them a little. Just to get him out I’d let him chill on you for at least a little bit on your body while you watch tv or something. Mine looks at Everything when he’s out. Really enjoys it.
Yes beardies enetwrtainmemt is watching and looking at things. Try and leave the tv on all Day on mellow shows; like friends and george Lopez, they don’t like loud violent shows or movies; they love to watch tv. I keep my rv on all day so they can watch.

Hi; we reacue & rehome; Did u read my in-depth post to you? The 5.0 Bulb emits little to NO UVB; the 10.0 is the best & correct UVB and yes replace it every 6Mnths it will still Turin on but won’t emit UVb that’s why replace it every 6Mnths & yes your beardie will be more active and will jot be sick with bone disease. U will be lucky if he’s ok because the 5.0 is worthless. Also for heat use the clear Zoomed basking bulb; maybe your temps are off if he’s cold . U need a digital thermometer and a digital hygrometer placed on the hot side with the long probe placed on the basking platform so u can acuuartwly see the temp and get an infrared gun from Home Depot to shine on the basking spot u shine it and inch away and that gives complete accuracy. Temp for a Beardie over 8mnths should be 95-98.

Yes I read it thank you, was just confirming. So is he sick? What do you mean I’m lucky if he’s ok? Should I bring him to the vet? As far as installing the 10.0 bulb, the correct distance is 12-15 inches away from his basking spot correct? And that’s inside the cage? I think that’s what sadie was saying. He’s not cold in his cage Im positive I got him a great heat lamp I use a digital thermometer i looks at it a few times a day. he does get cold at night so I’m thinking about buy those “ceramic heating bulbs” for the night

I really hope I didn’t hurt him the first month I had him he had ZERO UVB cus I was using those coil bulbs but for 3 months he’s been using the 5.0 at a not good distance was like 13 inches above the basking spot but it was on top of my screen which is fine mesh

4x2x2 = 48" x 24" x 24" --- the UVB will need to go into the tank and you can hang w/ these things 3 M command Velcro fasteners- picture hanging wire – long plastic zip ties-- fishing line - potted plant wire hangers or this stuff I use it in my two tanks and it works great - its like a Velcro strap cut into strips and wrap it around your fixture https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-15-ft-Cable-Ties-Hook-and-Loop-Spool-Black-10375/304220195
for a T 5 bulb distance should be 12-15 inches directly over the basking decor and for a T 8 distance needs to be 6-8 inches directly over the basking decor --- NO clear plastic cover over the bulb take it off if your fixture has one
Hey so I’m having a hard time figuring out how to hang it inside because there’s nothing to hang it by I can’t really hang it to the screen mesh. I attached pictures below. Would you mind showing me how you did yours?? Im thinking maybe I should Velcro it around the whole metal frame of the first screen does that make sense?

Velcro strips would be perfect , if it doesn’t feel safe, cover the full top of the fixture with it, if it fell on your beardy , it would be not good for shure, id run some thin metal wire through ur screen around the fixture for extra security , they make tiny zip ties that are long too.

you might haft to cut some of the mesh screen but this stuff works good - it sticks to itself I use it in my tanks never had a issue w/ it

Hi! So I have a quick question for the people. Do beardies need time out of their cage? I only take him out maybe 1 ortimes a month bec my house is always 65° (my parents have issues haha ) and when I do take him out he feels very cold to the touch so I feel bad and put him right back. Is that ok or does he really need time out of the cage? If yes then how often?? He has room in his cage it’s 40 gallon. I would take him outside so he can get real sun because where I live the heat in the summer is constantly 95°-100° but we had pesticides sprayed for mosquitoes on my whole property so I’m assuming that that’s not an option (correct me if I’m wrong)

I attached a picture of the cage so you can see the size. (He doesn’t run around a lot anyway)

thank you

Use a cheap fleece baby blanket from the dollar store or a heating pad might help too! Also, this website is pretty helpful....

I wouldn’t use a heat pad (way to dangerous) and they get heat from above not below, but a blanket is a wonderful idea! I have a softer hanky that mine sleeps on :)

I just hold the blanket in my hand and wrap up my little Clementine like a burrito while holding her on my chest. She moves around. There's lots of things you could make, a cave is a good idea, they sell lizard slings on Amazon but I'm sure they're not difficult to make! They love spending time with their owners!

At the end it’s either this tank or the 40 gallon I currently have. Is it worth upgrading since it’s only 67 gallon or should I just stick woth the 40 bec I can’t go bigger than 67 gallon.
