Hi, her beard has been normal coloured, I've never seen it go dark so far. I have been giving her vegetable slurry every day since she's been off her live food which she eats well and also keeps her hydrated. So far she's still hiding away and off her food but she did seem slightly more interested yesterday and licked a locust. Thank you will let you know when I have seen the vet.
Have u switched the UVB light?? It needs replacing every 6Mnths the best and most recommended is the Reptisun 10.0 T5. They can’t eat, or move and have no energy without UVB and proper heat. Here’s a photo. U can order online on Amazon or a specialty pet store. For heat get the zoomed CLEAR basking bulb never ever use colored or coiled bulbs.

Thank you, I have moved the uvb bulb now so its a bit lower down. I haven't had her six months yet so no need to replace just yet but will have a look at ordering that bulb thank you.

Update I took her back to the vets again last week Wednesday as she still seemed to be hiding away alot and not back on live food. They gave her a blood test and she is on more antibiotics now. Not sure what it's called but the vet explained it to me as been very common after coccidia. It's where the medicine she was on to kill the parasites does it job but it then leaves space for something else to move in. She has bacteria in her blood now. Since been on this medicine (enrocare) she seems so much better. She's out all the time and exploring and seems less jumpy. Hoping this will sort her and there won't be other problems. I am worried though that she will get MBD as a result of hiding away alot and not eating properly whilst she's been ill all this time.

Hi Coccidia is like lice & occurs from an unclean cage and poop/pee that is left too long. Always remove the poop immediately & never ever leave food or water or scraps of veggies in the tank at nite. U can order chlorohexadine from Carolina cages on Amazon; it’s a safe spray that U dilute with water to spray in the tank on the area they poop in to wipe after they do their business. And u need to retest the poop after 30days. Use paper towels or white terry cloth towels as the substrate so it’s easy to keep clean and remove the poop and burn the towels in hot water after every poop. Tank needs to remain super duper clean. And u need to burn all items in the tank in hot water alongside all the bowls and basking rock and throw away the hammock and get a new one. As far as the UVB replace it every 6Mnths and it should be in the tank 10 inches or more away or if it’s on top she can be a bit closer . For heat use the zoomed basking bulb. Keep both on for 12-14 hours. And never feed proteins until she gets warm & has been basking for at least a few hours. And last feeding don’t do too late because it takes 2 hours for a Beardie to digest it’s food so the lights need to be in for 2 hours to digest. And u can place the veggie plate in there on the cold side daily. I hope u retest her and u need to limit taking her out of cage and washing anything she walks on and get carpets cleaned and burn your shirts in hot water. Keep away from other animals it’s very contagious. Until u get the clearance that she’s free and clear of the Coccidia.

Thank you, we got rid of the coccidia and did have the poo tested again to make sure.

Unfortunately my rankins dragon only has a few weeks left to live. We found out he's a boy. He has a tumor that is down to genetics and unfortunately with him been so small and not sure how long it had been there because of the other problems masking it then i didn't think trying to operate would be beneficial. All we can do now is make him comfortable until the time comes.

Thank you for everyone that helped with my questions on coccidia and with your help we managed to get rid of it quickly and keep it away. I've learnt alot and hopefully, when the time is right we can have another lizard in the future knowing this information.

I am so sorry to hear about the baby -- that is terrible -- genetics plays such a key role in these little creatures -- my best to you and thank you for letting us know about the baby

Oh Noo I’m soo sad to hear it. Please talk to the vet to see if it can be removed. And YES; keep him comfy; he needs lots of heat and UVB he will not be able to move walk or eat without proper UVB and heat. Since he’s under 9mnths old temp should be 100-105 if over 9mnths they like it less hot 95-97. Again I’m soo sorry hopefully the vet can do something; maybe call around to another vet for a second opinion.

The person I sought help from was updated on your dragon and is what she had to say

Aw, that's so sad I'm really , really sorry to hear this. :( You had such a beautiful, clean set up so the coccidia wasn't your fault in any way and now you get this bad news. Is he acting sick + losing weight now ?

Hello,

Thank you all for your kind words.

I always thought I'd kept the vivarium clean and have taken the poo out as soon as I have noticed which has mostly been straight away. I guess I should have got some f10 earlier on but I don't really know how he got the coccidia.

We haven't had much luck with him and then getting this news was awful. I'm not sure if I'm going to know when it's close to the end as no two days are the same at the minute. Somedays he has a little energy the others he sits all day over by the basking lamp and doesn't move. He has started to lose weight just recently and he has definitely been acting sick since before we even had the news.

I'm keeping in contact with the vet as she has asked me to call her each week to let her know how he has been. She has been great to be honest.
