classifications

I'm not really sure what to call it, but what is the deal with the things people put with reptiles? I'm guessing it's all reptiles I've seen it in different forums and here as well with some signatures. They have something like:
1.2.0 bearded dragon
0.0.1 XXXX animal etc etc...

Just wondering what it means and how to read it
